For this campus daily shoot of Lin Luxi and Tong Tong from "Green Association", we put a lot of thought into accuracy during the preparation stage. To match that authentic campus feel, the location was specially chosen as a classroom with old-fashioned wooden windows and a green blackboard. Combined with indoor natural light, the atmosphere was completely maximized. The blue-and-white color-blocked sports school uniform jacket is the core of the entire outfit; I did meticulous trimming and styling on Lin Luxi's pink wig, retaining the iconic hairpin as an accent, which, coupled with blue contact lenses and a red choker, created an instant visual impact. Tong Tong's long straight black wig was also layered to look more natural. Combined with our height difference and contrasting personalities, the duo interaction had incredible tension.
During the shoot, to give the frames more storytelling, we prepared a homemade small picture book and a Polaroid camera. Writing the characters' names and hearts with chalk in front of the blackboard, leaning together to read books or posing with hand gestures toward the lens—all these details made the final photos feel more vibrant and lifelike. Because we wore pleated skirts, when taking mirror selfies, we deliberately adjusted the overall proportions: the sports jacket paired with a pleated skirt, along with white mid-calf socks and dad shoes, captured both youthful campus vibes and the characters' individual personalities. Partner shooting relies most on tacit understanding; eye contact and physical contact need to be natural without looking stiff. The Polaroid photos were left right on-site as props, and this instant photo texture perfectly suits the campus theme.
Actually, the scariest part of duo cosplay is shooting separately; fortunately, our expectations for this set of photos were very consistent—we wanted that chemical reaction with a slight contrast. For the mirror selfie, the focus was placed on presenting the full-body outfit proportions; although the background was the clutter area of the shooting venue, it paradoxically gave a sense of reality breaking through the dimension wall. Costume details, such as the buttons of the knitted cardigan and the red choker at the neckline, were tried to be clearly displayed in close-ups. When shooting in the classroom, we utilized the height differences of the desks and chairs to enrich the composition, such as one sitting and one standing or one in front and one behind, so the frame wouldn't look too rigid. To capture the most natural moments, the photographer let us improvise; actions like tidying each other's hair or looking down to read books were all captured in a relaxed state. The classroom's desks and chairs, the light and shadow from the windows, and those handwritten chalk words were all meant to let viewers directly immerse themselves in that scenario. Overall, the accuracy and atmosphere of this set of photos reached our expected results.
