The weather was truly wonderful when we took this set of photos. The blue sky, white clouds, and emerald green shrubs, combined with the sunlight spilling onto the skirt, created a very comfortable creamy feel. I actually prepared this outfit myself: a light yellow puff-sleeve top paired with an off-white apron pinafore skirt. The light green embroidery on the collar and the two light purple ribbon bows on the chest look quite delicate. Add a straw hat, a rattan flower basket, and tiny white flowers like lilies of the valley in hand, the overall atmosphere is that very bright Japanese pastoral style.
In fact, as an INFJ, I am a fairly standard introvert. I sometimes feel a bit self-conscious in front of the lens, but what this set of photos wanted was exactly that natural, lazy feeling, showcasing a unique introvert vibe. I studied a few poses in advance, such as holding the straw hat with one hand and looking up at the blue sky, resting my chin on my hands while lying on a stone platform, and a playful shushing gesture covering my mouth. During the shoot, the photographer gave me plenty of space and avoided excessive physical contact. Since I knew exactly what angles and atmosphere I wanted, going with poses I felt comfortable with actually made it easier to get good shots.
I really like the post-processing color grading of this set of photos; it leans toward that creamy, airy Fujifilm look with a touch of Kodak's gentle grain. This tone is perfect for this bright, sunny weather, rendering the cream-yellow of the dress and the green of the background very softly. For me, photography doesn't have to be about forcing poses; putting on a favorite dress, grabbing a flower basket, and taking a walk outdoors on a sunny afternoon while recording the moments along the way is a very relaxing state of mind.
Actually, for every photoshoot, I always do some preparation in advance, looking at others' photography poses and designing around my own clothing style. Because I don't want anyone to look stiff, being well-prepared allows for a more relaxed execution during the shoot. For those who are camera-shy, you can try more of this bright, sweet style instead of blindly chasing dark or edgy concepts; once you find the light and atmosphere that suit you, you can take beautiful photos.
This time, the location was chosen in the urban area for a Zhanjiang TFP photoshoot, where there are many beautifully landscaped spots, and the dappled shadows of light filtering through look lovely. These are actually the accompanying images for the TFP photoshoot post I published, as this style perfectly matches my preferences. I don't really like heavily edited photos; preserving a realistic life texture is more important. We stuck to our agreement during the shoot, intentionally heading out in the morning or afternoon when the light was optimal. The natural light of that clear, sunny day on my face created a translucent glow that studio shoots simply cannot replicate. Preparing my own poses meant the photographer didn't have to guide me step-by-step, and this socially distanced communication style made me feel exceptionally comfortable as an introvert. Looking at the lily of the valley and the rattan basket in my hands, paired with the white ribbons and straw hat, this set of photos can be considered a record of my exploration into the bright and sweet style, capturing a pastoral style girl through creamy tone photography for a Japanese Lolita Fashion Photoshoot.
