This time, I tried Malymoon's Japanese-style bunny girl outfit. The texture and quality of this costume really exceeded expectations; the gray-and-black tweed plaid naturally brings a vintage yet upscale aesthetic. The construction of the outfit is very clever—the cinched tailoring sharply defines the waistline, while the black satin bow and white lace paneling on the bust inject soft, feminine accents into the structured plaid. The lace-up back design is also meticulously crafted, serving not only to tighten the fit but also to enrich the garment's visual depth.
A lot of thought went into selecting the accessories to complement this styling. The plush bunny ears headband is the crowning touch; the pearl and lace trims along the edges soften the pure allure, adding a touch of delicate refinement. The arm warmers echo the plush collar around the neck, while the metallic grommets on the arm warmers add a hint of edge and visually elongate the arms. For the lower half, the sheer pleated peplum skirt paired with White fishnet stockings immediately establishes distinct layers. The lace garters and ribbons on the thighs fully elevate the anime aesthetic, packing the look with intricate details.
For the shoot, a clean white window blind was chosen as the backdrop. Utilizing natural light effectively highlighted the tweed texture of the fabric and the translucency of the skin. The interplay of light and shadow through the blinds also added a neat geometric flair to the frame. In terms of makeup, depth in the eyes was emphasized and paired with amber contact lenses to bring sharp focus to the gaze. The base makeup was kept mostly matte, with a soft dab of blush just under the eyes to preserve an innocent touch. A glossy lipstick was chosen to offset the heaviness of the gray-and-black palette.
Wearing this kind of corset paired with elaborate accessories inevitably restricts range of motion, but that is inherently part of the bunny girl charm. When seated, attention had to be paid to how the skirt flared out—it looks best when spread out like a blooming flower. When raising an arm, the sleeve should drape in an elegant curve while keeping the shoulders relaxed to avoid stiffness. With the fishnet stockings and leg rings in seated poses, care was needed to avoid unsightly pinching; slight repositioning made the composition look far more natural. Certain poses required stretching the body slightly to allow the tailoring of the costume to show at its best.
From its intricate details to the overall mood, this Japanese-style bunny girl shoot was thoroughly satisfying; everything from preliminary styling to on-set execution met my expectations. Fabric-wise, while tweed looks stunning, it easily reflects harsh light, so the lighting angles were adjusted accordingly. Post-processing also aimed to reproduce colors as seen by the naked eye, preserving genuine textures. Hope you all love this experiment as well.
