A lot of preparation went into this Shota cosplay shoot of Shounen Jeanne d'Arc, from the wig to the costume. The light blonde wig was trimmed with layers and a fine braid was woven on the side, paired with green colored contacts and faint red lips, attempting to recreate that slightly lazy yet somewhat sacred atmosphere. The main purple velvet robe has a heavy texture, with lace trimming and gold embroidered appliqués on the edges as finishing touches, while the white ruffles at the neckline and the pearl chain add layers to this purple and gold Western-style dress. The white over-the-knee socks and bubble-sleeve inner wear beautifully showcase the tailoring and proportions of the garment in the lying posture.
During the shoot, a white plush base and a red rose background were specifically chosen, with top lighting outlining the facial contours while creating a contrast between the purple-gold color scheme and the red-and-white elements. The composition of the lying down pose tests the control over light and shadow even more; this time, the side-backlighting allows the hair strands to reveal a delicate sheen, while the highlights in the eyes enhance the character's unique ethereal feel. As a Jeanne d'Arc cosplay with a rather classical style, the breathability of the costume and the fixation of the wig were key focuses beforehand. Invisible shoulder straps and neckline styling pins were added to ensure the collar remained crisp even when lying down. During the shooting process, the scattered positions of the roses were constantly adjusted to keep the image romantic without overshadowing the main subject. Post-processing only involved basic color correction and skin softening, preserving the velvet texture and sheen of the fabric. This attempt was an exercise in costume details and emotional expression for me by embodying Misa Ikezaki's character, and I hope to convey the character's quiet and slightly complex temperament through these static frames.
