The weather in Zhengzhou was perfect for an outdoor location shoot—the sunlight was soft without harsh glare, and the lawns were lush and green. For this session, we brought along a blue cloak, crisp red apples, and a few stems of pale blue flowers. I cosplayed as Link. The wig carried a bright, vibrant tone, paired with pointed elf ears, while the makeup emphasized crisp eye contours and subtle lip tint. The top was a blue belted tunic with metallic gold trim and white geometric motifs across the chest, accented by white puff sleeves. For the lower half, I wore dark brown fitted trousers with white knee paneling, anchored by two-tone brown and white mid-calf boots whose lace-up strap details added a genuine sense of adventure. The outer blue cloak featured blue-and-white striped hems with white insignia printed across the back, billowing with stunning cinematic presence whenever a breeze swept past.
For props, we prepared a bright red apple, a bouquet of soft blue blossoms, and a small brown pouch emblazoned with the iconic Sheikah eye symbol. The park offered sprawling lawns and shady groves. To find the most evocative angles, we traversed winding woodland paths, and walking across the soft turf felt wonderful. When posing, I tested various moments: tossing the apple mid-air while standing, resting on a grassy knoll holding the fruit close to my cheek, and casually leaning against tree trunks for a breather. Toward the end, I lay back on the grass with the blossoms resting against my chest, watching dappled light filter through the leaves in pure tranquility.
Logistics assistant Bao and makeup/photographer Shiyue were an immense help. Bao was constantly by my side smoothing out the cloak's hem and repositioning the apple to keep framing effortless and natural. Shiyue executed an immaculate, clean makeup look, and the prosthetic elf ears adhered so seamlessly that the seams were virtually invisible. The photography guidance was equally patient, walking me through diverse poses and capturing numerous dynamic, candid moments—especially the exact split-second the wind caught the cloak. Outdoor shooting definitely tests physical endurance, especially while hiking across lawns layered in multi-piece garments and boots, but seeing everyone cooperate with such effortless chemistry made the entire journey remarkably smooth.
I was reminded of the classic line, 'I've waited so long for you, Link!' During the shoot, we consciously avoided aggressive combat poses, seeking instead a quiet, patient stillness immersed in nature. Whether resting beneath a tree with eyes softly closed or lying on the lawn gazing into the open air, every frame held an interwoven sense of anticipation and serenity. There was no exaggerated theatricality—just dissolving into the surrounding greenery and letting the character breathe naturally within the landscape. The outfit has rich structural depth and feels substantial to wear, which made it all the easier to step into character and feel the pulse of a living fantasy realm.
The overall grading leans toward crisp, natural greens and blues—luminous, refreshing, and comfortable to the eye. Bringing a beloved character to life in a real-world setting, running across open turf, and daydreaming on the grass was a truly unforgettable experience. Behind every finished frame lies everyone's heartfelt dedication, preserving the memory of that sun-drenched afternoon. Nature's natural light is the ultimate filter, and I am deeply grateful to every partner whose presence and hard work made this Zhengzhou shoot such a seamless success.
