[Saber Artoria Cosplay] Camelot Banquet: Blue Dress and Wine Glass

When shooting this set of the Camelot banquet, we wanted to capture the quiet tranquility and elegance belonging to a king. Distinct from her familiar battlefield cape design, this Blue dress displays more of her composed, aloof side at a formal feast.

When selecting this outfit, exquisite material and tailoring were paramount. Deep blue satin has a great drape, but under studio flashlights, fabric reflections can easily overexpose or make wrinkles look messy. To recreate the dress's high-end feel, studio lighting relied mainly on cool side lighting. This outlined the satin's luster while adding depth to the black lace paneling at the chest and neckline. Paired with sheer over-the-elbow gloves lined with black lace trim on the arms, the overall black-and-blue palette created strong visual harmony. Asymmetrical hemline tailoring, deep blue pleated side accents, and draped white mesh gave standing postures greater spatial extension.

The crystal chandelier overhead served as the soul of the scene, bringing not just illumination but a classical grandeur. The nearby vintage carved framed mirror added depth of field and spatial presence while simultaneously capturing back details, including the lace-up design of the dress. During the shoot, cool white bokeh in the background made the figure merge seamlessly into the setting while emphasizing her silver-white short hair and icy blue eye makeup.

The glass of red wine in my hand acted as a wonderful visual anchor. Within the cool-toned blue-grey palette, the burgundy liquid popped out instantly to become a focal center, echoing the maturity and composure displayed by the character in Fate. The silver-white wig needed to be handled neatly, and that sticking-out ahoge had to be shaped just right. To maintain the style, I specially pressed the hair roots again before leaving home so it wouldn't look messy due to angles when tilting my head or raising a glass.

Although Artoria is mostly known as a knight throughout the Fate series, trying this Blue dress look gave me a firsthand appreciation of her unique charm outside of combat. The choice of props, expression control, and distance created by the overall cool color palette imparted a touch of mystery to this set. Special thanks to photographer Bai Yuqing for mastering the light, shadow, and atmosphere—preserving facial three-dimensionality while capturing the aura of a royal banquet, bringing deeper authenticity to this cosplay photography work. Every photoshoot is a new endeavor, and this was a truly satisfying breakthrough.
