Low camera angles combined with backlighting allowed the puddles on the track to form perfect reflections; the visual impact of this Xiao Ju Zi cosplay set surprised even myself.
During early discussions with the photographer, we wanted to maximize the character's sense of speed, so we chose this racetrack under slightly overcast weather.
The wet road provided great reflections, and the wind direction was just right when holding the checkered flag, making the long orange hair flow with tremendous dynamic tension.
The prop of choice was the classic checkered flag—it had great texture and was heavier than expected, taking some strength to wave.
The costume featured a bright yellow and pure black combination, creating a striking visual contrast with the cool gray tones of the racetrack.
The white high boots were genuinely heavy; maintaining a single-knee kneeling stance or low-angle poses kept my thigh muscles constantly engaged, and it took dozens of shots to find the most comfortable angle that flattered my lines.
The photographer's wide-angle lens elongated my legs nicely, but it was prone to perspective distortion, so standing positioning was very particular to avoid hugging the edges of the frame.
Luckily, I was in great shape that day, bringing that unyielding, playful energy into the lens.
Doing this Xiao Ju Zi cosplay was a fantastic attempt. From preparing the costume to scouting the location and coordinating angles with the camera, every step was energy-consuming—especially shooting outdoors in overcast, drizzly weather while protecting the camera and styling.
However, seeing that poised, ready-to-sprint sensation right before a race in the final photos was deeply satisfying.
The character design is inherently vibrant; I strived to recreate her personality through facial expressions and hand gestures without forcing overly exaggerated poses, as a natural demeanor better conveyed that cool edge belonging to the track.
After the shoot wrapped up, I found myself splashed with quite a bit of water, but looking at my face and long hair under the backlight made everything completely worth it.
The entire process was an excellent exercise for personal expressive presence, and this professional dedication is a direction I will always uphold in my Esports cosplay journey.
Sharing these insights with everyone, I hope you can feel the atmosphere brimming with speed and passion through these images.
