[Elizabeth cosplay] CICF Day 2 On-Site Record: An Exploration of Dark Gothic Style

The convention photos from CICF Day 2 are finally sorted out. This time, I took on the challenge of styling Elizabeth, embracing a dark Gothic Lolita aesthetic overall. This outfit turned a lot of heads at the convention hall, though it certainly carried some weight. The most eye-catching part of the entire dress is the layered hemline: the outer layer features black semi-sheer tulle adorned with cross-star embroidery, while the interior required a full petticoat to hold up that voluminous silhouette. To ensure the skirt swayed with a flattering ripple while walking, I tested several petticoats and ultimately settled on one with moderate support yet relatively light weight, preventing excessive fatigue while moving between indoor and outdoor shooting spots. The corseted waist cinched the silhouette nicely, paired with silver buttons to create a crisp visual line that enhanced an upright posture.

The upper bodice was packed with details, featuring layers upon layers of black lace across the neckline, shoulders, and cuffs. To keep the lace from scratching the skin, I wore an inner camisole underneath. The detached sleeves allowed for effortless wearing, removal, and on-site adjustments, while the black lace gloves not only flattered my hands but also served as an indispensable element of the complete ensemble. Around my neck, I wore a necklace splicing pearls and pavé rhinestones, which stood out brilliantly against the dark fabric.

For the makeup, given the character's porcelain-fair complexion, I prepped the base thoroughly using high-coverage foundation sealed with setting spray, ensuring the makeup stayed intact even under hot outdoor conditions. The eye makeup was the focal point: slightly enlarging the eye shape with dark contact lenses, I blended reddish-brown eyeshadow across a wide area on the lower lids to introduce a touch of delicate innocence. Elongating false eyelashes were applied to open up the eyes, finished with a nude-pink lip to preserve overall harmony.

As for the wig, this pale-blonde twintail wig took considerable time to trim beforehand. The bangs required layered thinning just covering the eyebrows without appearing bulky. The curls on both sides were styled using a flat iron and secured with holding spray, ensuring they wouldn't collapse easily in the breeze. The black birdcage veil headpiece with floral and feather accents was fastened to the wig using bobby pins; the veil draped just over half of one eye to cast a mysterious veil before the lens, though moving through crowds required careful navigation to avoid snags.

During the shoot, the photographer captured numerous fleeting moments. Several full-body compositions caught me looking back over my shoulder while gently lifting the heavy skirt hem; shooting from a low upward angle gracefully showcased the layered skirt, black platform Mary Janes, and white socks, beautifully elongating full-body proportions. Close-ups focused on facial and headpiece textures, where natural daylight combined with ambient convention lighting rendered the delicate weave of the veil and lace trims with crisp clarity.

Stepping outdoors, the blue-toned ambient light harmonized with the black attire to deliver cool-toned imagery that aligned seamlessly with the character's temperament. The greatest outdoor hurdle was the wind, which nearly swept the headdress away several times, luckily held secure by tight pinning. Weaving through convention crowds in an elaborate outfit with a trailing skirt prone to being stepped on was undeniably tiring, yet seeing the finished cuts made every bit of preparation and on-site tuning worthwhile. I hope this styling and visual presentation conveys the character's enchanting charm.
