At this convention, I finally brought Liu Qiyue's (Liu Qiyue cosplay) phoenix ensemble from Cang Yuan Tu (Cang Yuan Tu) into reality! From preliminary pre-production to the final makeup test, this styling demanded extraordinarily rigorous detail control. Styling the long orange-gradient wig was immensely time-consuming; to build airy volume and defined tiers, I went through heaps of hairspray and flat-iron sculpting. The golden branch-shaped crown and the teardrop blue forehead gem were the hardest to anchor—to prevent them from slipping while walking across the bustling expo hall, I cross-pinned dozens of bobby pins inside the mesh, leaving my scalp numb from the sustained weight. On the cosmetics front, to echo the fiery hair, I blended reddish-orange eyeshadow gradients, meticulously hand-painting the sharp totem lines at the eye corners with a fine-detail liner brush; slipping into scarlet contact lenses instantly brought out that fierce, piercing resolve in the gaze.

Slipping in and out of the costume was a massive undertaking. The midriff-baring halter design adorned with dense golden fringe tangles easily with the slightest movement. The golden floral waist buckle paired with blue-green jacquard feather-patterned brocade introduced tremendous textural richness, yet added noticeable weight to the ensemble. The ultimate test of endurance, however, was the staff prop in my hands: the dense crimson feathers clustering both ends carried real heft, making dynamic swings physically taxing. Posing on the convention floor to convey kinetic tension and martial poise, I explored several horizontal sweeping and spinning stances. The seated pose in photo three was actually taken while perched on the photographer's flight case—pointing my toes and locking my core the entire time to elongate leg contours and showcase the skirt's fluid drape.

Because the garment features a breezy, revealing cut, navigating through crowded corridors meant cautiously guarding the waist panels to avoid snags or wardrobe mishaps. The ambient lighting inside the hall was chaotic, but fortunately the photographer scouted a relatively clean gray backdrop; wide-aperture optics dissolved the milling crowds into smooth bokeh, complemented by professional strobe fill that illuminated the orange tresses with luminous translucency. Overall, from color saturation to floating drapery, I am thrilled with how this Liu Qiyue look materialized, and I hope these photos convey her fiery, indomitable spirit to everyone.
