The natural filter of Sydney's ocean breeze combined with the outdoor light allows the turning facets of the woodwind instrument's silver keys to reflect an excellent sense of light. This time, we didn't intentionally focus on an indoor environment, but instead brought the Kitauji High School uniform, music stand, blue bird props, and instruments directly into the outdoor environment for shooting. The woodwind instrument in my hand was rented locally. Although the keying habits and finger positions are slightly different from daily practice, I adapted a bit before the official shoot, striving to present a natural three-dimensional sense of playing the moment the shutter is pressed.

The open sheet music on the stand was reprinted and rebound, which, paired with the attached blue feather and a simulated blue bird perched on the edge, supplements a relatively distinct static imagery in the frame. For this Liz and the Blue Bird cosplay photoset, the transmission of fabric texture and instrument accessory quality often determines the depth of character expression. The patchwork of the brown jacket, the buttoned edges of the white cuffs, and the Klein blue bowtie visually reconstruct the winter Kitauji High School uniform color scheme to a high degree. The weather in Sydney today was wonderful, with the sky being a vast gradient of light blue. This soft diffuse light hitting the polished body and keys of the instrument avoids creating overly harsh, stark white highlights, making the overall color atmosphere look translucent and gentle.

However, we also encountered some interesting challenges during the shoot. The outdoor wind in Sydney was stronger than expected, so the music stand required extra weighting to keep it from shaking during close-ups of the instrument keys, and the bird props in flying postures required continuous adjustments of their perching angles. In terms of lens language, I preferred integrating the subtle movements of the fingering with the flow of the notes on the sheet music within the same opening and closing space, rather than rigidly copying a specific stance. Since the outdoor light was dynamically changing, I adjusted the shooting angles many times based on the cloud distribution in the sky to capture moments where both composition and light and shadow were natural.

The relationship between the characters in this work is very subtle; the bond between Nozomi Kasaki and Mizore Yoroizuka as each other's blue bird in music is the core emotion that this Liz and the Blue Bird cosplay photoset tries to restore. Recreating such costumes and scenes in Sydney carries a wonderful sense of cross-regional magic. For these teaser photos, close-ups of instrument playing and still lifes of the blue bird and music stand were specially selected, both attempting to visually echo the characters' state of mind in the story. The subsequent photos will be paired with more compositions and scenes from different angles to give the entire set a more complete sense of narrative. Being able to touch this highly accurate uniform with my own hands and materialize it through Sydney cosplay photography was the most fulfilling aspect of this shoot.
