The wind in the stadium is sometimes even more mischievous than the weather forecast. Even though it showed clear skies for days in advance, the moment I walked onto the red rubber track carrying the heavy instrument, the sun immediately hid behind thick clouds. Dark clouds soon gathered, and the cold wind made the brass tuba in my hands freezing to the touch. Before the rain fully started falling, we quickly found good angles on the track and snapped a few photos to make the most of the shutter time. Holding such a large wind instrument is actually a true test of core strength; you not only have to bear the heavy weight but also try hard to maintain a proper playing posture, but this is exactly what gives playing this character the greatest sense of reality.
The most interesting part was the dramatic turn in the weather. Midway through the shoot, the rain indeed started to drizzle, shrouding the entire venue in a gloomy, overcast sky. However, after we clumsily packed up our equipment and took a ride to the place where we were going to eat, I looked up and actually saw a rare display of fiery clouds across the sky. The orange-red sunset glow completely saturated the sky, making the streets look warm and cozy. At that moment, I truly felt this trip was full of plot twists; although there was no sun during the Sunfes shoot, we were compensated with a gorgeous sunset in the evening after the rain. The running joke of "Sunfes without the sun" was just too accurate.
This shoot explored two styles: one capturing the look of earnestly practicing a tuba performance, and the other instantly switching to an energetic anime-style cheering pose with pom-poms. Standing on the stone steps of the stands and raising the yellow pom-poms high truly brings to mind the hot-blooded cheering atmosphere of a sports meet. Although it is a cosplay, through this blue, white, and yellow patchwork uniform, white gloves, and long boots, combined with these real stadium exterior views, I hope to express the character's love for music and youthful persistence. While the unpredictable weather didn't grant us perfect lighting, it conversely gave this set of photos a bit more realism and spontaneity. A small blessing within imperfection is probably the best footnote for this shoot.
