[Nakaseko Kaori cosplay] Sound! Euphonium: Everyday Moments by the Water and Street Corner

When I received this Kitauji High School uniform, I was immediately drawn to the deep maroon sailor collar colorway. The white collar trim with gold stripes, paired with a dark green scarf, gave the tailored cut a more dimensional look than in the anime. To recreate the character's aura with proper Uniform styling, I specifically trimmed a straight-bangs bob and applied a light, natural makeup layer, taking care not to mask my natural facial structure.

The shoot was split across two major scenes. The first was at a rocky stream bank: stepping barefoot onto damp stones was quite a test of balance, especially for the shot where I crouched on a boulder looking back over my shoulder—I had to constantly find leverage on the soles of my feet to avoid slipping into the water. Though the submerged pebbles were smooth and rounded by the current, walking still required caution, and the photographer kept reminding me of my center of gravity. My favorite moment was capturing the instant I spread my arms to maintain balance; the water's reflection shimmering against the skirt brought a natural, breezy dynamism far livelier than any rigid pose in this Cosplay photography set.

The second scene moved to the stone-paved streets of a town neighborhood, set against traditional torii gates and Japanese architecture, with street signs echoing the story's ambiance. I held a golden B-flat trumpet as a prop; though I'm not a professional musician, holding it instinctively made me adjust my posture, imagining myself practicing with the wind ensemble in Sound! Euphonium. Pedestrians and cars occasionally entered the frame, but the photographer framed the shots adeptly, perfectly preserving that authentic slice-of-life feel.

Particularly special was the series by the wooden bench along the river embankment, where the lens shot through foreground green foliage to create a natural frame composition. Setting my black backpack aside, I sat sideways and raised an arm to feel the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy above. At that moment, I wasn't deliberately calculating character poses; it felt more like genuinely unwinding within the tranquil scenery.

Regarding costume details, the two gold stripes along the skirt hem and the golden buttons on the chest faithfully reflected the original design. However, to adapt to outdoor shooting, I adjusted the skirt to be slightly looser for easier crouching and wading. Pairing white over-the-knee socks with loafers for a White tights cosplay aesthetic was used in the street scenes, creating a vivid visual contrast with the barefoot shots and adding rich layers to the complete work.

The entire photo set avoided exaggerated post-processing, preserving the warm glow of dusk and the distinct blue-gray tone of the stream. As a Cosplay photography endeavor centered on roleplay, I believe the most important aspect is not replicating an exact frame, but conveying the youthfulness and serenity of Nakaseko Kaori cosplay through the seamless blend of attire, props, and surroundings. Even though my feet were bumped by pebbles several times during shooting, seeing the natural relaxation captured in the final edits made every effort worthwhile.

This outdoor location experience gave me a fresh appreciation for the comfort of cosplay outfits; going forward, I will pay closer attention to mobility when selecting fabrics and tailoring for outdoor activities. I hope this photo set allows everyone to experience a glimpse into the daily life of the Kitauji High School Concert Band in Sound! Euphonium.
