[Judy & Nick Cosplay] The Lucky Bunny and Fox Partners in Zootopia 2

On New Year's Day in 2026, we finally finished shooting this Judy & Nick cosplay formal gown photoset. It was actually quite cold that morning, but to match this formal dress theme, we chose a shooting location in front of a European vintage-style building. The red brick walls and black wrought-iron gates had a solid, tangible texture under natural lighting, creating a rich narrative feel without requiring excessive background embellishments.

When we first decided on this look, I thought it was particularly interesting. Judy and Nick are usually remembered in police uniforms or casual clothes, so switching to formal evening gowns and suits gave them an instant prince and princess fairytale vibe for Zootopia 2. The women's yellow gown features a one-shoulder design with exquisite rose dark jacquard patterns woven into the fabric, while yellow floral accents on the shoulder and headpiece were placed just right. The voluminous skirt was great for revealing body proportions during spinning movements, and the hemline length perfectly exposed the ankles and lower legs; paired with beige high heels, the overall silhouette looked slender and elegant. Of course, the key highlights were the fluffy white-and-gray animal ears and headpiece. To restore the character features, the hair and makeup artist worked on the styling for a long time, ensuring both the wig and headpieces were secure while maintaining a light, fluffy bounce when walking.

The men's outfit was a very formal black suit layered with a light gray vest and a white shirt. The bowtie and bright yellow boutonniere echoed the color scheme of the lady's gown. The biggest highlight was the pair of orange fox animal ears and a fluffy big orange tail. During the shoot, the tail was secured to the belt; initially, it kept swaying around as we moved and occasionally brushed against his legs, but it felt much better after adjusting the attachment point. The black biker boots broke the overly rigid business feel of the suit, retaining a bit of the charmingly cheeky and playful vibe unique to Nick.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was fantastic. Although temperatures were low, a beam of warm afternoon sunlight hit from the side of the building, casting a gentle, glowing reflection across the yellow skirt. Because our pose difficulty was quite high—several shots required the male lead to drop to one knee, hold her hand, and perform ballroom-dance-like spinning lifts—we adjusted our positioning over and over again. For the gown, the hardest part was actually capturing dynamic motion; due to the large skirt, a sudden breeze could blur the fabric into a messy clump, requiring the photographer's continuous guidance and rapid shutter timing to freeze the skirt flowing in its best arc.

In terms of action and expression control, we specifically stayed close to the Nick and Judy pairing dynamic—their playful banter mixed with deep tacit understanding. Just like classic lines from Zootopia, there's always an inseparable bond between the fox and the rabbit despite their bickering. For static joint poses, the girl crossed her arms with a confident yet slightly tsundere expression while the guy held her waist to support the scene, instantly bringing out that unique tension between the fox and rabbit pair. Overall, despite freezing during this outdoor shoot, the resulting formal wear cosplay photos were very satisfying. As cosplayers, being able to faithfully restore these unique character traits from Zootopia in our work is immensely fulfilling.
