The moment I first saw this dress in the game, I knew I had to cosplay it at least once. Since I've always loved clothing designs with a sleek, streamlined feel mixed with starry sky elements, I made some micro-adjustments to the details based on my own ideas during the actual preparation, adding modifications that align better with my personal aesthetics. Looking back at the entire photo set, what satisfied me the most was actually the transition of scenes. We needed to present the light and agile texture of the dress itself without letting it get washed out in a monotonous studio shoot, so in terms of shoot planning, we split the visuals into two parts.
The first part was a clean shot against a pure white background. The white tone is very simple, mainly highlighting the costume's tailoring and the completion level of the hair and makeup. Here, I specially paired it with thick yet translucent white tights, which echoed the blue-and-white gradient of the skirt hem, visually elongating the leg lines and making the overall look appear even lighter. The large blue bow on the shoes happened to create a perfect visual top-to-bottom balance with the bow at the collar. The detached sleeves have a certain reflectivity, sketching the contours of my shoulders and arms under the studio lights, and the off-the-shoulder design prevented the upper body from looking bulky.
For the second part, we switched directly to a real-life location. Many people feel that a formal dress with light sci-fi elements is hard to match with a real-life daily setting, but as long as you find the right color relationships, vintage elements can create a wonderful chemical reaction with the starry sky backdrop. For instance, that game of chess served as a classic visual anchor, which, combined with the massive cosmic vortex effect screen in the background, instantly filled the character's sense of story, with the composition being just right. The photos of me sitting on the sofa were actually taken quite casually. During post-processing, retaining a bit of magenta light leakage from the scene actually gave the overall color palette more warmth, carrying a quiet and lazy atmosphere.
The overall look this time takes blue, pink, and white as its primary keynote. The pink wig features textured wispy strands and choppy bangs, paired with bright blue colored contacts. This strong color contrast consumes a lot of light in front of the lens, demanding precise studio light positioning, as a slight deviation could easily overexpose the whites of the eyes. Fortunately, the photographer was very restrained during post-processing, preserving the reflections in my pupils to the maximum extent. Complemented by the echoing bows between the collar and the shoes, the overall girlish charm and exquisiteness naturally emerged.
Honestly, as a male cosplayer doing this style of character, I had to overcome some additional physical limitations in body shape. However, this dress itself has a relatively loose shoulder area, which, combined with the drop-shoulder design of the detached sleeves, beautifully modified the visual width of my shoulders. As long as the waist is zipped tightly, paired with the high-waisted skirt hem and block-heeled bow shoes, it can still create a light, girlish posture. The makeup emphasized the three-dimensionality of my facial features while softening the masculine, rigid contours, and combined with a large area of blush and a glossy-textured lip makeup, it looked much softer on camera.
Completing this photo set wouldn't have been possible without the support of @米游妙妙屋COSPLAY. Store Manager Guoba provided many practical suggestions for set construction and styling assistance; on-site communication was seamless, and the entire production efficiency was very high. Although I made a few modifications and didn't completely replicate the original design, I still really love how these final photos turned out.
