[Cheshire Cosplay] Dreamy dress photoshoot notes of an Azur Lane girl

Today I'm finally sharing the final photos of my Cheshire Cosplay from Azur Lane. The preparation took quite a lot of time. First is this Dreamy dress, crafted with glossy white satin spliced with light-purple organza. The hemline and cuffs feature extensive lace and pleating, while the pearl chain and 3D floral accents across the chest add a luxurious, delicate touch. The most eye-catching part is the massive white-and-purple bow headpiece—the golden bells hanging on both sides not only faithfully recreate the original setting, but also jingle crisply as I move, adding plenty of charm.

For the wig, rather than sticking to a single tone, I chose a silver-gray base with striking cyan-blue highlights on the bangs and ends, matching the character's spirited, playful personality. In terms of makeup, I skipped heavy dark eyeshadow and instead blended soft pink tones across the under-eye area for a dreamy, misty "just-cried" or slightly tipsy look. Paired with bright blue contact lenses and berry-tinted lip gloss, it instantly elevated the doll-like refinement and depth of the facial features.

For camera angles, I specifically chose a high-angle overhead view for a full-body shot. While many Anime cosplay creators prefer bust close-ups for easy results, I feel that an overhead seated pose offers much more dynamic tension for an outfit emphasizing skirt volume and leg lines. The White thigh-highs outfit exhibits a pure, clean texture under bright lighting, complementing slender ankles to elongate overall proportions. Holding the mini cherry cake prop also added a cute, coquettish accent to the shot.

I was extremely pleased with the set design. Vintage wooden low tables, woven rattan baskets, an easel canvas, and fresh flowers created an artistic afternoon tea-party atmosphere. The white rabbit statue on the right and the vintage round rug kept the visual composition rich and engaging. Many people ask how to achieve this high-key dreamy look without overexposure or losing fine details; the secret lies in diffused lighting. I used multiple softboxes and diffusion scrims to bounce light softly across the entire scene, keeping the delicate texture of white tulle and lace crisp and visible even under strong light.

Honestly, pulling off such a heavy Anime cosplay requires immense stamina. The headpiece looks stunning but is quite heavy, leaving my neck sore after wearing it for hours. While the White thigh-highs outfit flatters leg proportions, maintaining an elegant posture without unwanted creases throughout the shoot requires constant focus. Additionally, wooden floor grains and rug patterns can easily steal focus from an overhead perspective, so framing the shot in advance to make the figure and color blocks the visual centerpiece was essential. I slightly lowered the angle to let my legs form a V-shape extending downward, showcasing both the costume and the spatial depth of the composition.

Throughout the shoot, I continuously adjusted the wig bangs and headpiece to ensure they wouldn't obstruct the eyes or look messy. Though exhausting, seeing the intricate lace, airy tulle, and clean leg lines in the final edits made all the hard work worthwhile. Cosplay is not just about accurate reproduction; it is about bringing a character to life with one's own visual interpretation. This pairing of a classic Dreamy dress with high-key makeup leans closer to fine-art studio photography than casual convention styles. Every detail—from the fluffiness of the dress to the purity of the White thigh-highs outfit and the exact poise holding props—ultimately defines the final texture of the photos.
