[Herta Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Mysterious Atmosphere of the Genius Society

This set of photos for Herta was saved from a previous studio shoot. The moment I saw this huge black and blue color-blocked pointed magic hat, I knew the focus of the cosplay recreation lay right here, so I repeatedly adjusted the tilt angle of the brim during the shoot. The blue flowers and small red ornaments on the hat were glued on by hand, adding extra richness to the overall color. Styling the light-colored wig required a bit of patience; the fluffiness of the hair strands, along with the black clips on both sides and the purple ribbons, are the details that come together to make the frame look complete.

The top half of the outfit features a strapless deep purple and blue corset. This portion placed high demands on tailoring, especially the black mesh stitching in the middle, which had to tightly fit the chest curves without feeling uncomfortable while staying securely in place to prevent slipping when raising my arms. The designer added quite a few hidden fasteners for this reason. The outer black leather cross-straps also nicely balanced the originally girlish dress style, adding a touch of crispness. The silver metallic ornament on the chest and the black choker on the neck echo each other; although taking a long time to prepare, this accessory texture was well worth the effort.

The sleeve design is the most flowing part of this costume. The white semi-transparent ruffled wide sleeves are extremely light, fluttering even with the gentlest breeze. In this relatively compact studio set, whether the sleeves hung naturally or were slightly raised, they created great dynamic motion. The blue fabric lined inside also added extra depth. Moving down to the hem, you can see a multi-layered design: a dark inner lining, blue outward pleats, and dangling silver snowflake-shaped pendants. These elements combined prevented the lower silhouette from looking too thin, making it stand out prominently against the plain gray background.

Regarding posing, the first photo captures a standing pose with one hand resting on the hat brim, attempting to catch a cool yet focused expression. However, the 'shh' gesture in the second photo adds more fun—placing the index finger against the lips, paired with blue-purple contacts and a slightly tilted head looking into the lens, brought out an extra touch of playfulness and mystery. When portraying this kind of character, posture and eye contact are crucial; you can't just stand there idly, but must convey the character's temperament through fingers and shoulder angles.

The studio setting for this shoot was quite clean. Key lighting was placed mainly in front and slightly above to the side of the character, softening facial shadows to highlight the makeup and the texture of the blue-purple contacts, while also creating a clear boundary between light and shadow on the white sleeves and dark corset. The combination of props and costume achieved the desired visual balance on camera. In the future, I'd like to try a different lighting setup and take a few close-up shots, which should give a whole new feel. That's all for today's share!
