[Tatsumaki Cosplay] The Esper Aura of S-Class Rank 2

When preparing for this Tatsumaki cosplay, my goal was to faithfully recreate that aloof yet powerful aura from One-Punch Man. From deciding on the theme to the official shoot, it took about three weeks in total, but I spent most of my energy on action design.

For the wig, I specifically picked a teal shade with light curls, carefully controlling the saturation since overly fluorescent colors look fake. During post-editing color grading, I also asked Qiezi-laoshi to slightly desaturate the color brightness so it could seamlessly blend into the cool-toned white studio background. As for the costume, I customized a dark green high slit gown. The fabric was specially chosen to be thick yet draped well. Considering that the character frequently floats in mid-air, how the dress moved in the wind determined whether the final photos looked dynamic, so I specifically added small weights at the seams.

I didn't choose an outdoor location; instead, a pure white indoor studio paired with floating props was needed to create a high-dimensional overwhelming presence. The floating black rocks you see in the images were mostly carved from foam, painted, and spray-finished. During the shoot, we arranged them around my blind spots and relied on lens perspective to exaggerate their volume, capturing the heavy texture of massive boulders to achieve the floating effect.

As for \"wearing safety shorts\" mentioned in the description, it was indeed because this outfit's high slit design was extremely challenging. Making large kicking movements or powerful mid-air floating poses could easily result in wardrobe malfunctions. Although it looks a bit more conservative visually, it gave me a strong sense of security, allowing me to confidently control body tension during anti-gravity jumps and front kicks without worrying about awkward slips.

What took the most physical energy in this set was recreating that \"completely floating\" state. To capture moments simulating esper power control, I used a trampoline to spring up quickly, forcing myself to tighten all my muscles at the apex. Because of the large motion range, repeating jumps over twenty times to capture a single perfect frame was second nature. Each time I landed back on the ground, we had to readjust the positions of the floating rock props around me and tidy up the ribbons blown messy by the fan.

This shoot used a high-key white background with cool rim lighting. Once the background goes pure white, physical flaws are magnified, requiring extremely stretched postures and expressions. To give the composition more spatial depth, Qiezi-laoshi and I repeatedly tested wind directions and speeds, using floor fans to blow the skirt and long side ribbons upward from below. The rim light striking my teal wig gave the character's outline a slight glow, making her look even more mysterious.

The most charming thing about Tatsumaki isn't just her esper powers, but the casual, supreme confidence in her expression. To capture that feel, I deliberately slowed down my breathing rhythm, slightly raised my chin, and intentionally averted my eyes from the lens to stare at a point in the void. This \"looking down\" posture, combined with short wavy hair scattered by the wind, perfectly recreated that aloof aura.

The photographer, Qiezi-laoshi, understood my concept deeply, carefully planning the flying trajectories of the dress and ribbons during early framing. In post-processing, he retained the soft texture of the skin while enhancing the dark outlines of the rocks, making these props look not like flat cutouts on a backdrop, but as if they were genuinely slicing and rotating through space.

Shooting this set really drained a lot of physical strength. Many friends seeing the final images might think the look is a bit detached, but as the person in the shoot, putting on the character's outfit and striking her poses lets you briefly step into her perspective. I believe this process of recreating character perception through body language is precisely the charm that sets cosplay apart from other types of photography. Being able to express Tatsumaki's aura and power through hard work this time made it a truly meaningful endeavor.
