Bringing this photoshoot of Phrolova as Hsin from Wuthering Waves to life involved tremendous dedication in both styling and scene design. The costume is dominated by black, white, and red, featuring a lustrous sheen accented by golden star motifs and blue gemstone inlays; the shoulders and cuffs utilize a detached structure that lends the fabric an effortless drape. To faithfully embody the lore of Hsin, I wore a pair of massive plush fox ears with darkened tips and green gradients, paired with long light grey-green hair styled with neat blunt bangs, a golden crescent hairpin, and red floral hair ornaments, resulting in a striking color collision. For makeup, red colored contacts were paired with elongated winged eye contours and a red teardrop accent beneath the right eye; matched with bold crimson lips, the gaze was calibrated to radiate cool aloofness and subtle languor.

The set was designed to evoke a classical courtyard: a wooden screen hung with calligraphic rice paper formed the backdrop, enveloped by red maple leaves, pink cherry blossoms, white plum blossoms, and emerald bamboo. The warm yellow glow from paper lanterns provided an alluring contrast against the dark wooden furniture. For props, we prepared a black-and-red folding fan, a Go board with stone bowls, and a red oil-paper umbrella. With these props, I explored diverse postures—sitting cross-legged, holding the fan, placing stones, and leaning recliningly—to keep body language natural. Stepping barefoot onto the white plush rug served as another intimate layer of emotional expression.

Our camera gear for this session was the Sony A1 paired with the Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 lens. Weighing 995g, this lens carries noticeable heft in hand, but as an all-around large-aperture standard-to-telephoto zoom, it proved to be an indispensable Swiss Army knife for efficient creative work. With an 82mm filter thread, pairing filters was seamless. What surprised me most was its autofocus performance: powered by the HLA high-speed linear motor, focus acquisition was snappy and silent. On-set lighting was intricate and the lantern illumination was rather dim, yet in sufficient light, focus locked almost instantly, and even in low light, tracking autofocus remained exceptionally rapid, eliminating long waits while holding poses.

In terms of image quality, the Sigma 28-105mm maintained superb optical performance across all focal lengths used throughout the day. The most pleasant surprise came at the 70–105mm range, where image resolution didn't drop off at all, but rather showed enhanced sharpness. For someone like me who loves pixel-peeping details, this was pure bliss. Whether capturing tight close-ups of facial makeup and hair accessories or rendering soft background bokeh for half-body portraits, the lens handled everything with ease. Combined with the high resolution of the Sony A1, zooming in on the final frames still revealed razor-sharp detail. Several shots using foreground red maples produced creamy bokeh roll-offs that accentuated the subject beautifully.

The entire shoot proceeded seamlessly, with light, props, and optics achieving ideal harmony. I adore this fusion of fantasy elements with traditional aesthetics; the design of Hsin offered vast room for expressive interpretation, and the finished photoshoot carries a rich, tactile depth.
