[Daenerys Targaryen cosplay] Behind-the-Scenes Makeup & Styling Diary at Game For Peace Shenzhen Offline Exhibition

I lost count of how many times I've done this Daenerys Targaryen cosplay look from Game For Peace this year. Coming to the official offline event in Shenzhen to recreate two complete looks in different color schemes, the photos show all the highlight moments after completing the makeup and styling. Participating as an official Cosplay makeup artist feels uniquely meaningful. Every time I see the enthusiasm players invest in this look at the booth, I approach every stroke of detail on the face with even greater care.

Among the influencers collaborating this time were @Wang Xiaowai and @Tiegu Cengceng, alongside another gorgeous cosplayer doing the same Daenerys Targaryen cosplay, making the backstage dressing room incredibly lively. Wang Xiaowai's look was sleek, and Tiegu Cengceng's was very cool. Everyone joked around in the dressing room while wrestling with their heavy wigs and armor. The event took place in Shenzhen, where the entire city was covered in Game For Peace elements; iconic symbols were everywhere, especially that giant landmark outside the venue, truly turning the city into a Game For Peace Itasha City.

Having collaborated with official teams for a long time, I maintain strict control over character styling. For base makeup, I used professional foundation matching natural skin tones, then outlined signature golden armor patterns and facial highlights for the Daenerys Targaryen cosplay. The platinum-blonde wig took over 40 minutes to style, creating voluminous hair layers to accommodate the massive curved golden horns. Gradient bloody-tinted elf ears were custom-made for a snug fit, though taking them off was quite a hassle. The costume features custom hard armor decorated with bead strands—though heavy, carrying this weight was worthwhile to restore the dragon clan's majestic aura. The bronze-gold armor plates reflect light brilliantly, combining with facial highlights to pop in front of camera lenses, though it significantly restricted body movements.

The backstage environment was far messier than pictured, with vanity mirror lights making us sweat, but facing the camera required keeping top form. We took plenty of interactive selfies with influencer partners and the other Daenerys cosplayer. Shenzhen was fantastic for this event—the booth design felt like seaside planet exploration, and we struck various poses before the camera, including combat stances.

I've been working on Game For Peace projects off and on—providing makeup, attending offline conventions like Shenzhen Anime Convention, and collaborating on official shoots—so I know every character trait by heart. It's not an easy job; waking up at 5 or 6 AM to prep wigs and prop boxes, then taking off these complex outfits at dusk before removing makeup to eat. Yet seeing the character tension in final photos and hearing players recognize my work makes physical fatigue fade away.

Partnering with official teams again this year alongside @Wang Xiaowai and @Tiegu Cengceng to meet players offline was a precious experience. As a Cosplay makeup artist, I strive to balance character accuracy with camera brightness, approaching every job with professionalism. Over these three or four days at Shenzhen, I gained fresh understandings of the character daily. I hope everyone feels my love and resonance with Game For Peace through this event. Every joint shoot and makeup collision is a process of refining our craft in this cosplayer industry. We don't look like Daenerys Targaryen just because we put on this outfit, but because we truly understand the character's core to convey her essence.
