[Seira cosplay] Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Casual Wear Team Building: Experiencing Subway Commuting After Coming Ashore

The concept for this casual Seira look envisions the everyday life of the Mermaid princess after coming ashore and blending into human society. To align with the character's original palette, I specifically chose this orange square-neck top with puff sleeves to echo the vivid orange wig. A white seashell hairpin was clipped into my hair to preserve a subtle nautical motif. The yellow choker around my neck and the tiny pumpkin pendant dangling at my chest served as charming little accents for this casual ensemble. Rather than heavy theatrical stage makeup, I kept the application natural and wearable, opting for brown contact lenses while retaining prominent anime-style false eyelashes to preserve that 2D charm.

Because this was an outing in casual wear, the locations were anchored in ordinary slice-of-life spaces. While riding the subway, I found that the reflection against the train car window was incredible for selfies. Holding up my phone and leaning against the glass, the window reflected the cool-toned overhead cabin lighting, striking a vibrant chromatic contrast against the warm orange of my outfit. The hit rate for good takes was surprisingly high. Although holding the phone partially obscured my face, the overall ambient vibe felt spot-on, creating the authentic sensation of an actual human commute.

In the evening, our team building was set outdoors by the water. In the background, the pool and water surface illuminated with emerald green lighting felt distinctly like a seaside getaway (Beach team building). Sitting around with a few friends, the table was loaded with an assortment of snacks and drinks. In my hand was a glass of orange fruit juice that coordinated seamlessly with my outfit's tones. The nighttime lighting was fairly dim, but thanks to ambient event lights and illumination from the opposite architecture, the frames gained wonderful night-portrait texture. To tie the ensemble together, I paired it with a silver chain belt to inject fashion flair and carried a pale yellow handbag—this color-blocked contrast was genuinely eye-catching outdoors.

While waiting for transit, sitting on the bench with a cup of green iced beverage beside me and looking out into the darkness beyond the window, seeing my reflection cast on the glass suddenly evoked a delightful, whimsical sense of cracking the fourth wall. Shooting on a subway train actually tests your technique: lighting fluctuates constantly and glass is prone to distracting reflections, requiring mindful angles to filter out crowds and stray glares while utilizing the cabin's cool ambient lights to keep skin tones looking clean and translucent. During color grading in post, I intentionally retained the gritty grain of the night scene rather than aggressively smoothing the skin, wanting this set of casual cosplay photos to feel raw and authentic—like a personal slice-of-life log of an ordinary girl.

The entire shoot was an absolute joy, meeting up with so many friends sporting vibrant wigs of different colors. We gathered together chatting about countless fun cosplay memories. While I usually specialize in formal cosplay photoshoots, dressing down in casual attire every now and then to explore a character's state in mundane daily life is delightfully refreshing. It pushed me to consider how, stripped of extravagant backdrops and digital VFX, a character's intrinsic personality can be conveyed purely through eye contact and body language. During candid snaps, I strived to stay completely relaxed, relying on unforced smiles and spontaneous postures to express her effortless ease after stepping into human reality.

At dinner that night, everyone was dressed in diverse styles, and the sea of multi-colored wigs under the waterside lighting looked truly magical. We circled around, chatting over food, and I flashed a peace sign in our group photo—the atmosphere was wonderful. Because recent real-life work demands have been rather grueling, back-to-back overtime left me somewhat fatigued, preventing me from editing and returning our group convention meetup photos right away. I feel a bit apologetic, and once this hectic rush passes, I will definitely make it up to everyone.
