When working on this Starchasm Nyx cosplay, the part that required the most delicate handling was that black wig. The ahoge on the crown had to look natural yet upright, so I spent a long time wrestling with hair wax and a hairdryer to keep its shape. The red contact lenses had great light transmission, but wearing them for an extended period caused dryness, so I had to be very mindful of protecting my eyes with every blink. For makeup, the base was set quite pale, with deep crimson and dark eyeshadow carefully blended into the eye sockets, complemented by sharply winged eyeliner to authentically project Dark Seele's sharp, commanding gaze.
The texture of the costume was also vital. The primary black tone paired with red piping, along with that gorgeous breastplate set with a ruby against silver on the chest, carries substantial weight when worn—requiring me to keep my back straight at all times to project the character's formidable presence. The dark-style headpiece and shoulder armor are also remarkably intricate. Given the indoor shooting conditions, I utilized lighting angles to create an atmosphere of intense chiaroscuro contrast, highlighting the cohesion of this dark aesthetic.
Cosplaying one's ultimate favorite character is always deeply challenging because you must strive to understand their inner world. Dark Seele's striking personality contrast—habitually detached, yet wildly ferocious in combat—requires nuanced contemplation through varied expressions and gestures. During the shoot, I also prepared some props related to "This leads to the stars", attempting to recreate classic lore settings. Although it was rather exhausting to handle the camera and adjust angles all by myself throughout the shoot, seeing the fierce, imposing presence reflected in the frame brought a tremendous sense of achievement. I usually enjoy studying other cosplay works, so I dedicated maximum effort to the intensity of the makeup and the drape of the garment folds, hoping to deliver a relatively flawless visual experience. From preparation to final retouching, this entire set of photos was produced completely by myself, pouring all my love for Honkai Impact 3rd into this character.
