[KAngel cosplay] Hangzhou Gonglian CC Kangel Pop-up Store Visit & Claw Machine Street Shoot

This time, I visited the Kangel pop-up store at Hangzhou Gonglian CC and took the opportunity to shoot a cosplay set in the super photogenic Claw machine area right next to it. Before shooting, the most challenging part was this light blue reflective dress; it is extremely sensitive to light reflection. Under the high-frequency interplay of pink, blue, and purple neon lights on-site, even the slightest movement produced different reflective effects. To faithfully recreate the character's texture, we had to wait until the crowd around the claw machines thinned out, taking special care to avoid harsh glare and reflections on the glass. The colorful striped floor stickers also served as a natural prop; adopting a low camera angle paired with a wide-angle lens nicely elongated the leg proportions. For instance, the cover photo utilized the claw machine counter as support, posing leaning with one leg bent, which maximized the sleek lines of the white boots. The shooting process was also a real test of stamina—for a jumping shot, I jumped in place several times just to capture the most natural dynamic motion. Although the colors in the claw machine area were complex, controlling the aperture to blur the background successfully unified the color tones, seamlessly blending the light blue iridescent dress into the pink-and-blue ambient environment and making the cyber atmosphere of the overall shot even purer. This photoshoot experience gave me a new perspective on how to highlight a character in complex ambient lighting, making it a thoroughly enjoyable and fruitful session.
