[Fu Xuan cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, All Things in the World Follow Their Own Law

In Honkai: Star Rail, the character Fu Xuan has always deeply attracted me with her unique divination wisdom and responsibilities of Preservation. Carrying my understanding and love for this character, I visited August light and shadow photography COS Studio, communicated many details in advance with the photographer, and finally finalized this set of Cosplay photoshoot featuring a stylized fragmented teardrop effect.

During early preparation, we spent a lot of time brainstorming the character's visual presentation. Fu Xuan's design blends Eastern mythological colors with sci-fi elements. To reproduce that mysterious and distant aura, the makeup used soft yet highly recognizable pink-purple tones paired with a long, straight gradient wig. The wig itself transitions smoothly from light pink to pale purple, while the braided ends and tassels were extremely difficult to manage. The photographer discussed the placement angles of hair ornaments with me for a long time.

Regarding props and outfit texture, this set of Cosplay photoshoot aimed to convey the precision of high-level Preservation. The central round accessory on the chest features a geometric pattern on its outer metallic layer, while the purple-blue gemstone inside presents a flowing texture like lightning and a star-filled sky. This translucent texture produces a great reflective effect under specific studio lights. Combined with the teardrop-shaped purple-blue gemstone on the forehead, as well as the golden crescent pendant and pearl embellishments beside it, every detail strives to match the character's rune design.

From a photography perspective, we didn't use a traditional fully illuminated full-body shot this time, but instead utilized black irregular silhouettes and torn edges to create a visual experience of observing through a gap. In controlling specific framing—such as partial half-body glances back, side-profile micro-expressions, and looking down attentively at the chest accessory—the photographer guided me with utmost patience on set. The black frame edges focus the viewer's gaze more on facial makeup/hair details and expressions, avoiding messy background distractions.

Of course, when shooting these solo close-ups, conveying emotion through eyes is critical. To capture Fu Xuan's personality traits of rigor and self-restraint, alongside a subtle curiosity toward the vast world, I switched states across several camera focus points. Some shots required serious scrutiny, like resting a hand lightly on my shoulder, while others needed to show her gentle and calm side, such as a glance with lowered, closed eyes.

I really enjoyed the collaboration process with August light and shadow photography COS Studio—from early discussions about character settings to strict studio requirements for lighting, makeup, and props. The photographer truly understands how to capture character atmosphere, and the post-processing of the black frame makes the Cosplay photoshoot look not just like photography, but like an illustration infused with character runes. Since this outfit features an off-the-shoulder design, coupled with a white ruffled collar and black arm-sleeve straps, it places high demands on the model's shoulder and neck line. On the day of the shoot, we constantly adjusted postures to achieve the most natural bodily stretch.

The entire shooting process was extremely fulfilling—this is Fu Xuan in my heart. She is not only a wise figure in Anime cosplay and lore, but also a seeker with unwavering conviction. This set of works not only reproduces her in-game model appearance as much as possible, but more importantly expresses her inner spirit of being infallible in calculations through visual language. This Cosplay photoshoot might not be flawless, but it is indeed the heartfelt result of our team's hard work, making it an unforgettable attempt in my cosplay journey.
