[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail – A Dreamy Glance Back in Front of the Pure White Piano

Choosing to shoot Honkai: Star Rail's Cyrene in front of a piano this time actually took a lot of thought and effort from preparation to the final photos. Let's start with the core elements of the outfit. From the long pink hair to the elf ears (perfect for an elf style) and the antler-like hair accessories on top of the head, positioning every single small accessory really tested my technique. I made some minor adjustments to ensure a sense of depth under the strong lighting.

The color scheme of the costume is a gradient of white and light purple, with the visual focus being the very lightweight cutout lace design on the cuffs. Since this fabric becomes translucent when the arms move, paired with the light blue choker at the collar, the overall feel is incredibly clean. During the shoot, I paid special attention to the overall flow of the cutout sleeves and the collar to ensure they weren't blocked out during the glance-back pose.

The scene was set in this pure white indoor environment, with the core prop being the white piano, adorned with plenty of blue and white flowers around it. In the distance, there was also a soft white rug and an exquisite birdcage. Because the site had abundant lighting, we decided to try a high-exposure, high-key photography technique, incorporating large areas of white light into the frame. This dreamy photography method gave the overall atmosphere a very strong ethereal quality.

In the lore of Honkai: Star Rail, the character Cyrene naturally comes with a filter of time and memories. What I wanted to capture through the lens was not just an external resemblance, but the sense of tranquility evoked by "ripples of the past." Therefore, in terms of posing, playing the piano itself is a process of pouring out one's heart, so I intentionally controlled the strength of the hands and the distance of the gaze within a very soft range.

The hardest part to control during the shoot was the movement of the hair strands and the sheer tulle skirt; they needed to fall perfectly just a second before pressing the shutter. I tried that glance-back pose several times, striving for a natural curve while leaning against the piano stool, while also keeping my fingers casually resting on the black and white keys. What was particularly funny was that my hair kept getting blown into my face by the fan during the shoot. The wig got messed up multiple times, so we had to constantly stop to restyle it.

But the result was definitely worth it. This highly transparent image beautifully captures the character's detached yet gentle temperament. The gradient skirt with its long train spreading out in front of the piano was truly gorgeous. Even the ordinary white tulle in front of the lens, paired with the cool-toned light source and reorganized through composition, became an excellent helper in building the atmosphere.
