[Golden Lion Cosplay] A Shooting Note on My Absolute Favorite Character's Fairy Style in Azur Lane - Image 2

Golden Lion from Azur Lane is the absolute favorite character that I've been wanting to challenge ever since I got into the game, and this time I finally replicated this fairy style look. To be honest, standing in shallow water on the day of the shoot, combined with the lightweight gauze fabric that gets wet incredibly easily, did bring up some expected minor troubles. Fortunately, the ultimate water-gloss feeling and the semi-translucent hazy effect of the finished photos made me feel like all the effort was thoroughly worth it.

The details of this outfit are numerous. Aside from the iconic light golden long hair and fairy ears, the crystal-clear emerald on the choker is the finishing touch of the overall look, instantly elevating the entire texture. That type of semi-translucent white gauze skirt presents a highly lightweight visual effect under daylight. I really love the moment in Photo 2 where I stand holding the dark green side fabric; the flowy nature of the fabric pairs very comfortably with the body proportions, avoiding looking bulky while perfectly displaying the unique temperament of the original character—slightly naive yet carrying an innate majesty.

Regarding the shaping of the character herself, Photo 2 actually showcases the overall body proportions more completely. Because the character I'm portraying is often mentioned by the player community for her plump thighs feature, when coordinating the clothing with appropriate thigh rings and ankle lace straps, I also focused heavily on how to better contour the leg lines visually, preventing the outfit from looking sloppy due to being too loose. Stepping barefoot onto the white bottom plate actually fits that waterside fairy attribute better than wearing shoes, and this bold attempt allowed me to be much more relaxed in my expression control. It really brought out the core fun of Cosplay.

Actually, for this shoot, we selected a very bright, pure white scene, paired with a clear shallow water area and white corridors, intending to recreate an atmosphere akin to leisurely playing beside a serene waterbank. During the shooting process, photographer @Mi Meng Jie Yuan was highly professional in light and shadow scheduling, not only eliminating redundant shadows through high-key lighting to make the character look naturally soft-focused but also capturing the luster of the white-gold wig and the texture of the skin with great translucency. My movements were quite open; whether it was that slightly playful salute gesture or sitting casually on the waterside bench, I hoped to showcase the daily relaxed side of this character. This waterscape outdoor shoot configuration was an exceptional layout.

In terms of props, the handheld gold and green color-schemed long staff played an excellent extension role in the entire composition. Combined with the circular cutout background behind me, it gave the frame a picture-frame feel filled with fantasy colors. The pairing of black fabric with white clothing avoided the plainness that might occur in a full-white frame, allowing the visual center of gravity to instantly grab attention in a crowd. As everyone knows, presenting a character in this lightweight configuration is quite a test for the shooting team's ability to capture the person's temperament; one must not only mind the character's designated spirit but also control the line direction of the costume under dynamic conditions. This is also why I personally love this work so much, because it jumps out of the dimension of simply chasing replication, visually transforming the character's charm in a more ornamental way. I didn't use overly heavy colors for the makeup of this look either, keeping it primarily light and translucent, allowing the naturalness of the facial features to form a harmonious whole with the fairy ears. I hope this shooting log allows everyone to see the vibrant version of Golden Lion in my eyes. This Fairy cosplay exploration was truly a memorable experience for my journey.
