Today I went on a date with Mei, heading out for a location shoot in temperatures nearly reaching 40 degrees Celsius—we were truly using our lives to express our love for cosplay!

The two of us started putting on makeup at 7:00 AM and didn't wrap up until 2:00 or 3:00 PM. Looking back, our stamina that day was extraordinary. For this duo photo shoot, weeks in advance I prepared the long-sleeved pink shirt, red bow tie neckerchief, and iconic blue star hair clip. For Aihara Mei cosplay, she wore the classic white shirt base paired with a dark necktie and dark green sleeveless vest. This school uniform outfit matched her disposition wonderfully, naturally carrying a serious yet cool demeanor.

By the time we finished makeup and set off, the sun outside was hot enough to melt us. Although we chose an indoor lobby for shooting, direct sunlight through huge floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel like a giant oven. Our clothing wasn't particularly thin, especially the wigs, which became extremely unbreathable in the high heat, making our scalps feel numb; yet to maintain the character's fluffy curls and shape, we couldn't just take them off. After just one or two shots, our makeup was drenched in fine sweat. The mint setting powder I brought was a real lifesaver—I quickly touched up base and eye makeup during breaks, because once bangs flatten or eye makeup smudges, half the character's spirit is lost.

Midway through, we found a shaded spot to rest. As I adjusted my ribbon tie, she leaned over with her phone to snap that selfie. I naturally rested my cheek on my hand to make my expression look more relaxed. Details like the light purple beaded bracelet on my wrist and my nail polish were nicely captured. Her purple contact lenses looked especially translucent under natural indoor light. Another candid shot of me laughing with eyes closed perfectly recorded our genuine interaction, carrying a real sense of vitality far beyond heavily retouched photos. Mei also maintained a great state—even though slight tiredness showed through her contact lenses, the moment the lens aimed at her, she instantly locked into that focused character vibe.

In fact, during a summer outdoor shoot for a duo photo, the hardest part isn't just beating the heat, but matching each other's state. Mei is quite sensitive to heat, so before heading out, we were both prepared to call it off at any moment. Surprisingly, once at the location and rolling, our mutual chemistry revealed itself naturally. This everyday lifestyle perspective often carries more story than forced poses. I specifically used a vibrant rose-red lip color in my makeup to complement my blonde hair. For Yuzu Aihara cosplay and Aihara Mei cosplay, I helped her adjust her white shirt collar and black tie knot several times, ensuring vest buttons were neatly fastened—these minor details are professional habits every cosplayer must attend to, as proper outfit care ensures final photo quality.

Although today's shoot nearly gave us heatstroke, it left us with a trove of memorable material filled with a faint citrus scent of youth. At the end, wiping sweat from our faces, we complained about how scary summer heat is, yet no matter how tough the process, bringing beloved characters into reality yields irreplaceable satisfaction. The portable mini fan in the frame, the blue backpack, and the room's natural light all contributed to the unique warmth of this photo set. The final official photos will be published after editing; today is just a log of this sweaty yet meaningful shoot day.
