[Yuzu Aihara cosplay] Freshly Captured Convention Photos of Citrus

Walking around the Taishan DS Anime Expo in this outfit of a pink shirt and red bow tie felt truly magical. Although this look seems simple, recreating the essence of Yuzu Aihara required a lot of preparation, from the fluffiness of the blonde wig to securing the blue star hairpins. I carried a curling iron with me to adjust the hairstyle at any time, ensuring that every convention photo retained the character's spirit. Although the host, DS Anime Culture, is currently migrating their account, the event was still exceptionally well-organized, allowing me to take these photos at my own pace in a hallway featuring an arched dome and a gorgeous diamond-patterned geometric floor.

The photography and post-processing for this shoot were handled jointly by my partner and me. Since we set up lighting on-site, and considering the warm yellow dome lights indoors, we decided to preserve the noble warm tone of the overall environment while using a strong key light from the front-side to highlight facial contours. Especially on this red-and-white geometric floor, the light refracted beautifully at different angles, making the skin texture and clothing details appear very delicate. To match the lively and playful nature of Yuzu Aihara, I intentionally slowed down my movements. Whether it was the pose with an outstretched arm inviting the viewer or leaning forward with my hands behind my back, I hoped to capture the character's casual confidence and energy in daily life.

Despite the bustling crowd at the convention, we specifically chose a secluded corner and used a large-aperture lens to achieve a shallow depth of field, blurring the people and pillars in the background. This not only highlighted the subject but also reduced the pressure of background clutter during post-processing. Honestly, the biggest challenge of convention photos is how the cosplayer gets into character in a short amount of time. Even though there were many onlookers, as long as I immersed myself in the world of Citrus, I could forget the external distractions. I thoroughly enjoyed showcasing this high school-style outfit in front of the camera, carefully adjusting every detail from the subtle creases on the pink shirt to how the camel-colored knit cardigan draped around my waist, hoping to present a texture closest to the original work.

This shoot also gave me a deeper understanding of light and shadow. To make the red bow tie pop and capture attention in the frame, we adjusted its saturation and brightness in post-processing to make it a visual anchor. The choice of black socks and glossy loafers was to anchor the overall color balance, keeping the lower half clean and neat. This seemingly ordinary uniform actually presented a unique tension against the backdrop of the arched corridor and high dome. Every time the shutter clicked, it not only recorded the joy of the scene but also served as a tribute to this work and character.

All in all, participating in the Taishan DS Anime Expo and leaving behind such a beautiful set of photos was incredibly meaningful. Although the host's account is migrating, their dedication and the fans' enthusiasm were not diminished at all. Through this set of photos, I hope to pass on the freshness and vitality unique to Citrus to every viewer who loves anime cosplay and convention communities. Every shooting experience is a new adventure, just like this set of photos with interwoven light and shadow, filled with real warmth and color.
