[Amiya cosplay] Ambience Synesthesia in the Palace: Blue and White Elf of Blooms of Time

This time I shot Arknights Amiya's Blooms of Time outfit design, which is the Ambience Synesthesia Bride outfit everyone often talks about. When I got the dress, I was full of anticipation for this white-and-blue interwoven ballgown, so for the location, I specifically chose this classical palace-style venue with Roman columns and floor-to-ceiling windows, perfectly responding to the direct atmosphere of "dancing in a palace."

Although this look appears light and airy visually, you only realize the weight of the layered skirt once you actually put it on. The fit around the strapless chest area and the blue neck ornament was great, and the silver-white ice-crystal-like crown along with the beast ear headpiece left virtually nothing to complain about in terms of accuracy. The long staff I held was actually quite heavy; its flowing lines and blue crystal decorations reflected different sheens under varying light. To capture that natural fluid feeling, holding the staff with one hand while maintaining overall balance was quite a physical workout, and during breaks I often had to lean the staff against a nearby column to rest for a moment.

We tried several different compositions and poses during this shoot. The set of photos sitting on the floor near the floor-to-ceiling windows made great use of ample natural outdoor light, letting the ice-blue skirt integrate seamlessly with the indoor white undertones; even the reflections on the marble floor became a clever extension of the environment, adding visual layers. The final low-angle wide-angle shot is my personal favorite because its upward perspective elongated my leg lines, while the outward-flaring skirt and the huge classical oil painting in the background formed a fantastic spatial synergy—both elegant and filled with theatrical tension.

Amiya's character demeanor inherently carries a gentle yet firm quality, so in interpreting this outfit, I didn't want to appear overly distant or cold; instead, I focused more on that warm sense of interaction in my gaze. The off-the-shoulder design along with sheer gloves didn't feel overly cluttered, but rather created a dreamy blend within the classical environment. After all, this costume design itself carries a festive celebration vibe, so when choosing angles, we also kept the frame as clean as possible to avoid excess clutter blocking the character. The light was constantly shifting on the day of the shoot, often requiring us to wait for the exact moment when sunlight filtered through tree leaves onto the window frame, but the light and shadow texture in the final photos proved that waiting was well worth it.

Shooting in a gown with such a massive skirt, the biggest challenge besides the weight of the staff was keeping the skirt hem from dragging on the floor and getting dirty. Whenever we needed dynamic movements like spinning or tossing the skirt, we had to repeatedly adjust angles and force—ensuring the flying arc of the skirt looked beautiful while making sure detail work with the staff or gloves wasn't obscured. Every time I shoot a big set like this, from wearing props to posing, to discussing composition details with the photographer, the whole process is exhausting yet deeply fulfilling. Blooms of Time itself has a magnificent sense of design; whether in material choice or color pairing, it gives off a fresh yet noble feel. In particular, that combination of cool blue and pure white is extraordinarily suited for shooting in grand settings. As long as the lights are softened, highlights adjusted, and overall image brightness controlled during filming, the final output comes out very clear and translucent. I hope that while executing this look well, I can also naturally combine the character's quiet state of mind with the classical, refined atmosphere of the venue.
