This shoot is mainly to present the true atmospheric feel of this Fuyunjian outfit in an ancient style scene. If you look closely at the stylized close-up in Picture 4 alone, you might think this is a highly serene, beautiful ancient courtyard, with light permeating from outside the window, softly spilling over the face, which, combined with cherry blossoms and wind chimes, maximizes the atmospheric vibe. But the reason there are perspectives in Picture 2 and Picture 3 is precisely to let everyone intuitively see what the real shooting environment behind the so-called "final photo" looks like. Picture 3 is actually already very intuitive; that huge black softbox on the upper left and the irregular reflector on the right are the light sources for the entire frame. This set scenery is actually not as large as it looks—it can even be described as very cramped—and all the environmental sense of depth is compressed out by relying on a telephoto lens paired with backlighting.

For this kind of ancient style cosplay theme, lighting setup always takes more effort than pure costume details. To simulate that texture of afternoon sunlight filtering through wooden lattices and gauze curtains, our studio lights were pulled very far away, breaking up the light through massive softbox equipment, and then using a warm color temperature to unify the overall color tone. Recreating the effect seen in Picture 4 means the face has a very soft three-dimensional feel, while the cherry blossoms in the background present a semi-translucent state under backlighting; this actually requires quite precise light control, as shifting slightly would make the cherry blossoms look rigid and lacking in layers.

In terms of makeup and styling, this Ptilopsis ancient style outfit actually has many details. The silver-white wig can easily look overly exaggerated or carry too heavy a manga feel if handled poorly, so before shooting, the flow of the bangs and both sides of the hair was specifically adjusted to make it fit closer to the natural drape of real hair strands. The red pupils paired with the bell on the neck and the black wristbands on the wrists are details that echo the settings. However, during the actual shoot, because the on-site environment was very hot, and the shooting movements required maintaining a relaxed but not overly lazy posture—resting the chin on a hand or tilting the head up slightly—these actions look easy, but to maintain that "unintentional feel" in Picture 4, one actually needs to repeatedly control the center of gravity.

The complete location shown in Picture 3, besides cherry blossoms and lamp stands, also has a guqin placed on the ground, which is also meant to match the artistic conception of the entire theme. To prevent the frame from looking cluttered, we needed to avoid many miscellaneous items on the floor and the stands used for rigging lights during the shoot, which is why the perspective needed to be cropped very tightly, or use special compositions to block out those behind the scenes revealing spots. Completely different from casual daily photos, every single freeze-frame in a photography studio needs to pay great attention to the expression of lens language. Laying out the environment so clearly is actually because I want people who like the photos we shot to know that a good cosplay photo is not only the performance of the coser themselves, but also the precise control over light, composition, and atmosphere by the entire photography team. Although the shooting process spent quite a lot of physical energy, seeing the final photo results makes everything well worth it.
