[Machu cosplay] Gundam gquuuuuux: Outfit Recreation Record

This shoot captured Machu's everyday school uniform look from Gundam gquuuuuux (Machu cosplay). To achieve a faithful recreation on camera, I carefully curated every detail of the outfit during pre-shoot preparations. The light blue shirt collar featured white buttons, paired with a necktie accented by orange and red geometric color blocks, worn under a white long-sleeve sweater with red V-neck piping, and matched with a light blue pleated skirt below. The overall ensemble delivered a crisp, refreshing Cute girl aesthetic.

The wig was a short cut with a red base and white highlight streaks, with blue base tones underneath at the back of the head. This wig heavily tested styling, requiring setting spray to lock in the curve of the white bangs. To make my gaze appear sharper and deeper, I selected green contact lenses paired with a full makeup look. When applying false eyelashes, I paid special attention to following my eye shape; elongating the eyeliner and blending reddish-brown tones beneath the eyes ultimately created a facial look that captured the character's anime vibe in this Anime-style photography session.

The props for this shoot were particularly eye-catching: one was a round red backpack with black straps, an X-shaped logo on the front, and a little bird plush charm attached; the other was a giant white plush toy wearing a dark blue knit beanie, with very well-crafted details. While the red bag had great structural volume, it was lightweight; holding the plush doll throughout the shoot made my arms quite sore, but for the sake of the visual results, it was entirely worthwhile.

The shooting location was a relatively simple indoor studio; the clean, minimalist background actually highlighted the high contrast between red and blue. During the shoot, I experimented with several different poses. The first set had me hugging the plush doll while reaching a hand toward the lens to create dynamic perspective; the second set featured a brisk pose with one arm raised, unexpectedly discovering that revealing leg lines made overall body proportions look more elongated; the third set was quietly adjusting the collar while looking directly into the camera.

Since Machu is designed as an energetic and lively character, in terms of expression management, I strove to keep my expressions natural, conveying a sense of playfulness and sprightliness. Studio lights falling on the wig gave the red hair rich, vibrant texture. Through these photo sets, one can see the character's personality expressed across various postures—for example, lively standing poses paired with big round eyes evoke a particularly approachable, endearing feeling.

I gained a lot from this shoot, having fine-tuned prop placement and strap positioning multiple times beforehand. Although the sweater was a loose fit, to make the skirt visually elongate leg proportions, I also adjusted the skirt length. The finalized photos not only captured clean makeup, but also beautifully documented the garment's texture—a truly joyful cosplay experience. I hope to have more opportunities in the future to refine even more details, like items inside the bag or other small accessories, bringing an even more complete presentation.
