The group photo session at this Ningbo THO truly etched pure absurdity deep into our DNA. 'Don't you ever stop!' kept echoing in my head, and the outcome is what you see now: everyone collapsed flat across the red carpet.

Let's talk about the character first. As a beloved classic from Touhou Project, Marisa Kirisame's black-and-white witch ensemble looks utterly magnificent, but wearing it is genuinely punishing. The black long-sleeved dress features extensive white ruffled pleats across the back and hemline, punctuated with blue satin ribbons from bust to waist and a medieval-style white ruffled lace jabot at the neck. The biggest challenge was that massive wide-brimmed pointed black witch hat; to keep it steady, the interior had to be clamped firmly onto the wig with bobby pins, as tilting my head or making broader moves risked sending it tumbling. The wig demanded daily maintenance too—every curl and wave at the tips had to be locked with setting spray, otherwise lying down and standing back up would instantly turn it into an unruly nest.

To coordinate with the outfit, I wore White stockings paired with black lace-up chunky-heeled ankle boots. Although the boots are real leather, the soles are stiff, leaving the soles of my feet aching after long walks—let alone holding these high-difficulty reclining stances on the carpet. In my hands was her long-handled broom, whose bristles brushed constantly against the red carpet, leaving me terrified they would knot up. Next to me sat small plushies brought along for character atmosphere, requiring constant vigilance to ensure nobody rolled over them.

When the coordinator called for the group photo, everyone dropped to the ground in unison—I honestly never anticipated such a turn of events! Sinking onto the floor felt a bit disorienting at first; after all, the carpeted ground was rock-hard, and I had to guard against wardrobe malfunctions while keeping my leg posture tucked in, yet this black-and-white dress fanned out across the floor was undeniably photogenic. A huge crowd gathered around with telephoto zooms pointed straight at us. It felt bizarre at first, but lying there for a while made it feel totally natural—I even wanted to look at the lenses and take a few more. That classic feeling of 'this is so weird, let me take another look'! The metal buckles and zippers on the boots caught the light, and the White stockings hugged my leg lines cleanly, rendering great detail before the cameras.

For future absurd stunts like this, I definitely need to bring a cushion or at least layer an extra jacket underneath. That said, to do justice to Marisa, steps like test makeup, wig styling, and steaming the lace ruffles cannot be neglected. The foundation had to be applied thicker than usual because the convention hall lighting turns even slight facial oil into harsh glare. For the eye makeup, multiple layers of eyeliner and false lashes were applied to nail her look, while ensuring my gaze didn't turn hollow when lying down by finding the right angle to meet the camera. The shoe-and-stocking pairing was adjusted repeatedly so the contours looked flattering when cameras zoomed in on the legs. The ruffled frills easily look bulky when spread flat, so I had to arrange the skirt hem lightly with my hands while down to reveal its layered tiers. Although exhausting, seeing the final photos made this an unforgettable anime convention memory.

Moving forward, I'll probably stick to normal standing group photos. Lying flat on a red carpet is an experience best had once—it puts your core back strength and costume abrasion resistance to the ultimate test!
