Sharing today the fitting session for Ririko Futamihara from Yuzusoft's new game. To faithfully recreate the character's different states in the game, I prepared three sets of costumes in distinct styles. The first set is a campus casual style, featuring a light green hooded jacket paired with a gray pleated skirt and a dark red bow tie. This set has a very high appearance rate in daily shoots; I compared several manufacturers for the jacket's pattern and finally chose a slightly fluffy lightweight fabric, because the jacket in the original artwork presents a loose and unattached relaxed feel—if the fabric is too stiff or too soft, the on-body effect just doesn't look right. For the inner gray dress, attention must be paid to the tightening position of the belt, which looks best for proportions when it sits just below the stomach area. To match this set, I wore white knee-high socks with red stripes, which do a great job of flattering the calves; if your leg shape is on the slimmer side, a slightly wrinkled look appears more natural. Keeping the center of gravity on one leg during the shoot and slightly rising on tiptoes can nicely elongate the overall lines.
The second set is athletic homewear, consisting of a dark red athletic jacket with white stripes, paired with gray athletic base layers and ultra-short shorts. The key to this set lies in the drape of the jacket and the skin-tightness of the inner layer. During the fitting, I found that the jacket's zipper shouldn't be pulled up too high; keeping it open is the only way to recreate that rebellious vibe. The length of the shorts on the lower body is crucial—a fraction more looks less neat, while a fraction less easily causes wardrobe malfunctions. After testing several lengths, I finally found the right pattern. Since it's an indoor home setting, I chose to go barefoot, matching the white door frame and carpet, which makes it easier to create the authentic feeling of the character relaxing at home. The range of motion can be slightly larger when posing for this outfit, such as putting hands in pockets or leaning against the door, both of which can reflect the character's personality.
The third set features a polka-dot sheer top paired with a purplish-red mini skirt, leaning towards a more mature style. The black polka-dot material was chosen with a sheer mesh feel, allowing the inner layer to peek through once worn, making the choice of innerwear very important—black or dark gray inner layers are safer bets. A structured pattern for the purplish-red skirt is key, and a leather belt can tightly cinch the waistline, preventing the overall styling from looking bloated. To match this slightly reminiscent outfit, the hairstyle was also changed to twin braids. When braiding, attention should be paid to the symmetry on both sides, and some stray hair strands left along the edges of the cheeks to better flatter the face shape. In terms of makeup, to fit the character's golden-yellow eyes, I wore contact lenses of the corresponding color and slightly upturned the outer corners of the eyes to showcase the character's slightly smug expression.
When contemplating her demeanor, Ririko Futamihara possesses both an energetic and lively side, as well as a quiet or slightly seductive side. During the fitting process, I tried different expressions and postures—such as presenting a lazy vibe with headphones and a sofa in the school uniform, showcasing a sense of daily life with barefoot standing in the sportswear, and displaying gentleness with closed eyes and a smile in the polka-dot skirt. Overall, this character's styling spans a rich range, and each set has different shooting focal points. Looking closely at the original artwork, detail props like the hairclip on top of the head, the bow tie on the chest, and that tiny cross-star hair accessory are the keys to enhancing accuracy. Everyone can put a bit more thought into the materials and sizes of these small accessories when preparing this set, as it is often these details that determine the final photo output effect.
