This time, to restore Emilia's styling in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, a lot of thought was indeed put into matching the costume and makeup. This purple-and-white color-blocked dress design has rich layers, especially those wide separated sleeves, which not only have purple shield-shaped drapes and golden emblem patterns at the lower ends, but the purple ruffles at the cuffs also require good support to present a three-dimensional effect. To avoid looking thin in front of the lens, I carefully adjusted the positions of the inner white top and blue gem decorations to ensure the best texture under the lighting. When styling the silver-white long hair on top of the head, attention should be paid to fluffiness, matching the white hair ornament on top and the purple decoration on the side to make the overall look as layered and distinct as possible.

For the eye makeup, I purposely chose contact lenses with a highlight-shifting effect. When the studio lights hit, the highlights in the eyes change with the angle, making them look very lively. Everyone said this eye makeup looks particularly wise, which is actually the combined effect of lighting and contact lens refraction. To match the atmosphere of this styling, the eyeshadow also adopted a light purple tone, echoing the decorations on the costume, while the base makeup was kept clear and translucent to highlight the overall cool tone.

This shoot chose to use a mirror for selfies inside the studio. In the pure white space, the left wall is covered with photography light stands and background rolls, while the right side places an octagonal softbox and a reflector umbrella, along with the green emergency exit indicator light in the corner. The overall environmental lighting is bright and even. Shooting against such a clean background, the focus is on how to highlight the character's curves and costume details. I tried two different poses: when standing, the wide sleeves naturally drop, and the purple shield-shaped drapes happen to get stuck on both sides of the legs, forming a great visual extension; whereas for the shot sitting on the light-colored wooden stool, I crossed and brought my legs together, utilizing the white extension feel of the high stockings to make the leg lines look smoother and slender. Although the wooden stool has no backrest and requires core strength to maintain balance, this sitting posture indeed allows the lace and folds of the skirt hem to exhibit the most natural drape.

Considering that the combination of white stockings and white high heels easily looks borderless in a pure white background, I purposely used the shadow of the reflector umbrella to add some three-dimensionality. During the selfie process, the hardest part was avoiding the phone blocking the face while also balancing the reflection position of the lights in the mirror. After multiple adjustments to the mirror angle and sitting height, this set of relatively satisfactory mirror records was captured. This pure white style has very high requirements for clothing details and lighting; even a tiny wrinkle or uneven reflection will be magnified, so preliminary preparation and on-site adjustments are extremely important.
