[Tan Luning cosplay] Paper Bride 9 Dream Lover: Red String Blessing and Looking Back Under the Tree - Image 2

For this Paper Bride 9 Tan Luning Cosplay photo set, we chose a location under a wishing tree adorned with many red strings. The surrounding greenery was lush, and the vibrant red strings formed a subtle contrast with the character's cool and reserved demeanor. In terms of costume, I selected a light green knit cardigan with white lace trim along the collar and white ribbon bows tied at the cuffs. This color palette brings a refreshing spring feel, which, paired with the white inner dress, presents a very clean visual effect. For hair and makeup, blunt bangs paired with long straight black hair and round-frame glasses instantly brought out the character's scholarly bookish aura. To enhance realism, I emphasized a clear, translucent base makeup and soft eye makeup, avoiding exaggeration in favor of a natural look.

On the day of the shoot, the sunlight was abundant and tree shadows danced gently. In the first photo, I stood beneath the tree gently holding a red string; touching the prop immediately immersed me in the character's inner world, as if making a wish or whispering secrets. The second photo was taken on wooden stairs, where the dark wood grain contrasted with the pale green sweater. Turning around sideways to look back is a classic composition, but maintaining that posture was surprisingly tiring. While the photographer adjusted the lighting, I focused on finding an expression that was both detached and gentle. This lack of a deliberate smile was actually what best suited the theme. Later during photo retouching, heavy filters were avoided; we mainly preserved the original natural light, shadow, and texture, dimming the background slightly to highlight the subject.

Every time I portray a new character, it's a process of throwing myself completely into another soul. This shoot gave me a deeper understanding of Tan Luning—the concept of a 'dream lover' requires that elusive, dreamy sense of distant intimacy. Preparing the outfit, scouting locations, and overcoming outdoor mosquitoes and unpredictable lighting were all aimed at capturing that precise fleeting feeling. I hope everyone can feel the character's Atmosphere from this photo set. During shooting, we specifically waited for gusts of wind so the red strings would flutter, adding dynamic movement to the frame. The fallen leaves on the wooden stairs were left uncleaned to preserve the raw, rustic ambiance. Throughout the shoot, the photographer constantly encouraged me to try angles looking away from the camera for a more natural feel. I continually adjusted costume wrinkles and wind-blown strands of hair myself, striving to faithfully recreate every character detail. This process of constantly refining details for cosplay truly deepens one's understanding of the character.
