Part of the on-site photos from the Guangzhou CICF convention has finally been edited and finished. A lot of thought and effort really went into preparing and executing this W dress styling from Arknights. This time, we found a relatively quiet indoor set location at the convention site; the overall dark-toned industrial vibe matches the texture of this outfit very well. To recreate the character's cold, glamorous, and slightly dark attributes, the makeup emphasized deep eye makeup and full red lips, and the nails were also intentionally painted red to echo the headwear. The wig took quite a while to trim, and while walking around in the crowded venue, constant attention had to be paid to securing those two iconic red structures on top of the head to prevent them from falling off. The costume is a black halter pleated dress, with the neckline edges spliced with golden sequin material, creating shimmering reflections when light hits it. To match the proportions of the overall styling, I chose a pair of black platform chunky-heeled lace-up high heels, paired with sheer black stockings, which visually greatly elongated the leg lines. The on-site lighting was actually quite complex; thanks to the round lights at the top, utilizing a wide aperture for background blurring formed very gorgeous light spot bokeh in the background. During the shoot, I sat on a bar stool, and to capture that languid yet oppressive gaze, I repeatedly adjusted my posture. The action of crossing legs not only allowed the pleats of the skirt to hang down naturally, but also wonderfully showcased the texture of the black stockings and leg curves. The small round table and wooden wine cabinet nearby were fantastic interactive props; whether holding a red wine glass or casually leaning and sitting, a low-angle upward shot made the frame much more narrative and tense. The biggest challenge of convention on-site photos is the limitation of environment and physical stamina, but capturing and freezing the unique aura belonging to the character in this retro yet dark bar-style setting is precisely the most joyful part of shooting convention photos.
