[Exusiai cosplay] Arknights Exusiai the Covenants Red Hair & Leather Jacket Styling

This shoot was a cosplay photoshoot featuring Exusiai the Covenants from Arknights. To match the character's aura, I used a pure white studio backdrop to accentuate the striking visual clash of crimson, black, and white.

The wig was chosen in a vibrant, highly saturated true red, trimmed with sharply defined layered bangs and paired with warm amber-brown contact lenses to recreate her characteristically laid-back yet razor-sharp gaze. The makeup was kept clean without theatrical exaggeration, focusing primarily on sculpting the eye contours and giving natural vitality to the lips, ensuring she remained instantly recognizable as an anime character while retaining lifelike three-dimensional presence.

Immense effort went into the wardrobe. For the cropped black Leather jacket, I deliberately selected a fabric with a subtle sheen that caught studio illumination to reveal tactile leather grain. The silver crosses, metallic buttons, and thin red cord accents adorning the jacket were all pieced together with close reference to official designs. The cascading black straps and tassels at the back fanned out naturally whenever I walked or shifted positions, injecting dynamic flow into the frame. Beneath was a white button-up shirt accented with black stripes and a matching mini skirt, bound with black leather thigh straps—creating an intense contrast between bondage aesthetics and white over-the-knee stockings.

Choosing over-the-knee White stockings was intended to visually counterbalance the heaviness of the black Leather jacket. When wearing them, keeping the top bands completely flat without tight indents is essential. White stockings are notoriously unforgiving on leg contours, so I took extra de-puffing precautions before shooting to present the cleanest possible lines. The look originally included black lace-up platform combat boots, but for this set, I deliberately took them off and placed them beside me, sitting barefoot in White stockings on a white circular podium. This highlighted the silhouette of my legs while keeping the overall styling breezy and visually light rather than weighed down by chunky footwear.

The weapon prop was a massive black sci-fi firearm with substantial physical heft. Its matte lacquer finish, accented with deep red highlights, faithfully mirrored the tactile grit of her signature weapon. Throughout the session, I maintained direct physical interaction with the firearm—whether gripping it one-handed or steadying it with both hands—to emphasize her combat persona.

In terms of poses, I explored several distinct attitudes. The first, sitting cross-legged while flashing a peace sign, highlighted her everyday playful and upbeat charm. The second, sitting sideways with crossed legs, utilized the podium's elevation to elongate leg lines while resting one hand composedly on the firearm. The third had me curling my legs close, holding the barrel with both hands and tilting my head with an inquisitive glance toward the lens. The solid white cyclorama anchored all attention squarely on the subject, letting the chromatic triad of crimson hair, black leather, and white stockings shine with crystal clarity under the lights.

The studio shutter speed was fast; to capture spontaneous dynamic energy, I readjusted my center of gravity with each posture change. The Leather jacket required smoothing every time I sat down or stood up to keep shoulder lines and sleeves from bunching awkwardly. Angling the firearm prop also demanded constant vigilance to avoid blinding specular reflections off the metal parts. Overall, this styling achieved exactly the high fidelity and visual tension I had envisioned.
