For this shoot, we chose a real-life grand library as our location. The moment the door opened, a profound sense of classical vintage elegance rushed to greet us. Floor-to-ceiling solid wood bookshelves lined with colorful hardcover volumes, together with an antique phonograph and an intricately carved long desk, perfectly mirrored the library setting where Victorique usually spends her days.

For the costume, I prepared a dark vintage dress. Crafted from rich, substantial fabric, the voluminous layered ruffles and delicate white lace along the edges gave the skirt a weighted, graceful presence when in motion. To support the ample silhouette of the skirt, I wore an appropriate petticoat underneath, cinching the waist tightly. The wig chosen was a floor-length light-blonde wavy piece. Such ultra-long wigs tangle very easily during on-location shoots, so prior to shooting, I carefully straightened out and smoothed the curls section by section with a flat iron and applied holding spray to ensure a silky, voluminous texture on camera.

Real-scene photography relies heavily on lighting and shadows. The photographer used overhead lights to create beams mimicking the Tyndall effect. As light pierced through the fine airborne dust onto me and the bookshelves, the visual depth of the scene immediately sprang to life. In the first shot, I stood beside the wooden ladder looking slightly upward, aiming to highlight her focused gaze while searching for a specific ancient tome. In the second shot, I moved beside the desk, sitting sideways, where the brass armillary sphere and globe on the tabletop served as excellent visual anchors. To enhance the sense of fantasy, a smoke machine was used on set, which combined with the warm yellow glow to cultivate an enigmatic atmosphere reminiscent of unfolding magic.

When shooting full-length portraits with such an expansive skirt, posture control is crucial. Even when simply standing, keeping the shoulders and spine straight is vital to avoid having the heavy costume overwhelm your presence. While seated by the desk, balancing a languid posture with steady movements meant constantly relying on core strength to anchor my center of gravity. My line of sight also required continuous micro-adjustments to preserve that characteristic touch of aloof detachment inherent to the character. The entire shooting process felt like stepping into an authentic vintage realm; through these antique props, it became far easier to truly channel Victorique's persona.
