This Maki Nishikino uniform look took roughly two weeks from preparation to final shots. Once the Red wig arrived, spending an entire evening just trimming the bangs and setting the side locks was necessary. Because the character's hair color is highly saturated, it tends to look slightly orange under indoor lighting, so fitting in front of a mirror under cool white light was essential. The wig strands feature a subtle matte finish rather than an overly glossy reflection, which is crucial for capturing authentic anime textures.

For the makeup, the eye makeup demanded the most effort. To coordinate with the purple contact lenses, eyeshadow in a purplish smoky pink palette was chosen, with a deeper plum shade contouring the lower eyelid, paired with distinctly separated false eyelashes to avoid feeling too heavy. The contact lenses have a moderate diameter with a dark purple limbal ring, giving the eyes intense focus upon wearing. Blush was swept lightly over the apples of the cheeks, and a layer of dewy pink lip glaze was applied, creating a clean, slightly cool-toned aesthetic. A grey V-neck vest layered over a short-sleeved white shirt and accented by the oversized bright blue striped bow at the collar serves as the absolute soul of this ensemble. The vest's structured fabric resists creasing, making it ideal for outdoor shooting.

The blue plaid Pleated skirt on the lower half has substantial weight, with crisp pleats that do not lose shape while walking. Paired with black Stockings knee-high socks hugging the calves, it visually elongates the leg line, which combines with black platform shoes to produce balanced, slender proportions. During the outdoor shoot, the weather was somewhat overcast, but grey paving stones and glass curtain walls complemented the character's mood perfectly. Snapping mirror selfies in front of outdoor glass reflected the architectural lines behind. The first photo was a close-up taken inside a car under favorable light, highlighting the depth of the makeup and wig layers; the second photo was a full-body shot taken via the glass reflection outside, with the phone casually obscuring the face while showcasing the outfit's silhouette and body proportions. Using first-person mirror compositions is always enjoyable for cosplay, balancing outfit details and environmental depth simultaneously.

Regarding the costume itself, doing this shoot had been on my mind for years, always waiting for the most faithful uniform cut. This set's bowtie has vibrant coloring with high blue-purple contrast, sitting naturally against the grey vest. Falling just above the knee, the Pleated skirt reflects classic Japanese campus style. Bringing a spacious shoulder bag along during outdoor shoots helps store makeup touch-up essentials, backup wig care spray, and a phone. Since knee-high Stockings easily slip down while walking outside, applying anti-slip tape beforehand proved to be an invaluable practical trick.

The shooting process remained casual, focusing on adjusting stance and perspective rather than elaborate poses to emphasize the costume's highlights. Maki Nishikino naturally embodies confidence and a cool poise, so keeping expressions natural without forced smiles was key. The purple eyes and Red wig provide striking visual contrast; using red hair as a color block alongside the blue-purple tones of the bow and skirt created harmonious balance. For anyone looking to try campus-style cosplay, this is a timeless choice featuring clear coordination and vivid colors suitable even for casual wear. Hopefully, this photo set provides helpful inspiration for makeup, styling, and photography.
