The positioning for this shoot was to restore that workplace yet slightly little-devil attribute of Sora from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.
The blue and white color scheme on the costume is highly concise, with the classic twintails and iconic red colored contact lenses being the soul. The light blue ribbon bow tie serves as an excellent transition between the white top and the dark blue suit jacket. We chose a minimalist white studio for the scene, paired with scattered US dollar bills on the floor to simulate a special "workplace routine" belonging to the Nikke world.
In terms of pose design, whether it's the confidence of holding up the bills or the relaxed sitting posture after taking off the high heels, I hoped to capture Sora's calm, confident, and slightly playful traits. Actually, the main difficulty this time lay in how to shoot white studio photography with a sense of contrast. A pure white background combined with white tights can easily lack layers if the lighting isn't handled well. Therefore, the photographer and I put a lot of effort into the arrangement of light positions, intentionally using a softbox to brighten the face and side-backlighting to outline the contours of the twintails and the suit, creating that chilly and premium atmosphere.
We specifically prepared that pair of high heels with a black sole and red surface this time. During the early stage of the shoot, we actually hesitated about whether to wear them, but later decided to take them off and leave them to one side as a prop. This instead added a lazy sense of relaxing after work, and combined with the scattered bills nearby, the visual impact was much more organic than wearing them directly.
Regarding the wig, to maintain the fluffiness of the high ponytail and low twintails, we kept making adjustments midway through the shoot to ensure that every strand of hair was in its best state facing the lens. To match Sora's slightly tsundere gaze, I constantly paid attention to adjusting the focal length of the pupils and the relaxation of the eye muscles in front of the camera, trying my best to express that little smirk of being at ease within a working state.
From preparation to the completion of the full cosplay photoshoot, even though there was only a singular environment like the white studio, because I pondered over the character's personality beforehand and strictly controlled details (such as the tying of the bow tie and the flatness of the inner layer), the final effect presented in the photos exceeded expectations. I hope this pure restoration of the character through styling and expression can bring everyone a different feeling for this piece of anime-style photography.
