This time I am bringing the Emilia cosplay from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. This outfit features an overall combination of white and purple. The golden flying bird and triangular pattern embroidery on the skirt hem and cuffs are extremely exquisite, showing a slight metallic sheen under the light, which is the visual focal point of the entire styling. To restore that cool yet gentle feeling of the character, a lot of thought was put into the makeup and styling beforehand.
The wig chosen is a cool-toned silver-white, with blunt bangs and sideburns on both sides trimmed. After wearing it, it needs to be restyled for fluffiness, otherwise it tends to stick flat to the scalp. For the eye makeup, icy blue contact lenses were used as the focus, paired with purple-pink eyeshadow blending, and fine sequins were pasted around the eyes to increase the translucent feel of that other-world elf. The blush was applied slightly heavier than usual daily makeup, making the skin texture look better on camera.
The shooting location was chosen indoors, with the background arranged with white bedding and cascading light gauze curtains, and blue-purple artificial flower strings hung on the left, echoing the color scheme of the clothing. Natural light filtered in from the side-rear, forming a soft backlight that made the white fabric present a translucent texture and made the character's outline look very soft. When shooting in a sitting posture, the wide sleeves easily collapsed or accumulated wrinkles, requiring constant adjustment of the fabric's direction. Hands crossed and placed on the chest close to the cheeks, chin tucked slightly, eyes looking straight at the lens, trying to maintain a quiet and tolerant state. White stockings are also part of this styling, needing to be smooth and free of wrinkles in a sitting posture so that the overall lines appear clean.
In terms of post-processing, no exaggerated skin smoothing was done; it mainly adjusted the white balance of the image, slightly lowering the color temperature to make the overall tone cooler and more in line with the atmosphere of the original work. The saturation and brightness of purple were slightly adjusted to separate the clothing color from the background flowers. This was a very quiet indoor photoshoot, with no complex props to assist, relying entirely on light and the transmission of character emotions. I hope this styling allows everyone to feel that unique gentleness.
