This Kamisato Ayaka cosplay costume is Chushoumao's White Heron Sakura design. From the moment the package arrived, I began studying how to recreate every nuance faithfully. Unboxing it, my first impression was its sheer, heavy craftsmanship: the blue-and-white coat is edged with a plush white fur trim, while the cuffs and skirt hem are punctuated by pink ribbons and golden tassels. To complement the attire, I prepped a silver-toned wig with a soft light-blue gradient, topped with an oversized blue bow and feather ornaments, tying the side ponytails with pink satin ribbons. For makeup, I wore vivid blue contact lenses and deepened the eyeshadow blending to bring the eye contours closer to the character's original design.
The photoshoot itself was physically exhausting. The backdrop was kept minimalist with beige pleated curtains and white indoor steps to preserve a pristine visual frame. Holding a phone in one hand for mirror selfies while angling the purple-and-gold gradient folding fan in the other—all while keeping my body lines poised and elongated—meant every pose required meticulous calibration. I wore red platform sandals adorned with oversized pink bows across the vamp, which visually elongated my leg lines. Going bare-legged beneath such a sweeping, layered skirt accentuated the cascading drape and tiered structure of the gown far better than stockings would have.
Yesterday was officially Ayaka's birthday, but sudden real-life commitments delayed posting these photos until today. Scouting the best angles kept me perched on the white steps for nearly two hours testing various postures. Because of the mix of backlighting and indoor ambient lights, camera exposure was tricky to balance; hence, in many shots, I used the phone or the fan to partially veil my face—introducing an aura of mystery while drawing viewer focus straight to the costume craftsmanship. Snapping that perfect mirror selfie demanded endless micro-adjustments to my wrist angle and the fan's placement, leaving my arm trembling with fatigue by the end.
Many friends ask what preparation goes into cosplaying such heavily embellished characters. The most vital upfront steps are undoubtedly wig styling and test makeup runs. The wig needs fringe adjustments tailored to your face shape, while the blue contact lenses shouldn't be overly fluorescent—ideally blending seamlessly with gradient eyeshadow. During shoots, since the outfit features abundant fur and reflective sequins that catch glare easily, soft diffused natural daylight or high-output continuous soft lights are highly recommended. Although this ensemble is tiring to wear and restricts movement, seeing the final in-camera results makes every ounce of effort worthwhile. Here's to another wonderful year of Ayaka's shining journey across Teyvat!
