This tavern part-time job series is finally meeting everyone. To bring this Kuromi Serika cosplay set to life, photographer Daydreamer and I spent a long time discussing location options, ultimately settling on this bar filled with a retro wooden ambiance. The overall concept wasn't just about simple posing; rather, it aimed to express Kuromi Serika's delicate emotions—a mix of vigilance and aloofness, forced to work part-time at a tavern. Starting from the hair and makeup, the dark blue twintails and white cat ears served as the visual focal points. The wig was specially smoothed out, with the ends curling into a natural arc, which, combined with red contact lenses, delivered a profound, piercing intensity when gazing straight into the lens. The makeup kept things clean and translucent, avoiding heavy blush and instead deepening the outer corners of the eyes to accentuate her distinct temperament.
The costume is a classic black-and-white Maid outfit cosplay; to fit her part-time worker setting, the lace trims and ruffles on the apron were executed with exquisite detail. The black bow at the collar and the white sleeve cuffs formed a striking contrast. For the lower half, she wears White stockings, stretched tightly to sculpt and flatter the leg lines before the camera. The shoes are simple black leather flats; in one of the shots, they are taken off and placed on a wooden stool nearby, deliberately creating a sense of weary relaxation after a busy day.
The shooting process was fascinating. The bar counter's height and wood grain matched the vibe wonderfully; while sitting on it, I constantly adjusted the placement of my legs. In the first shot, with my right leg straight and left leg slightly bent, propping myself up on the bar to grab a red wine bottle, the pose required engaged core strength—looking relaxed while actually maintaining delicate balance. The wine bottles on the wooden rack served as the backdrop, providing rich color layers with warm yellow light casting varied reflections across them. The second shot features me seated on a high barstool cradling a dark green tray with crossed legs; this composition elongates the silhouette while adding everyday realism. The prop wine bottles and tray were the finishing touches; although we added a disclaimer that minors shouldn't drink, posing with these items on set was a core part of shaping the character.
Regarding the theme of the legacy of the character's scent, while shooting I contemplated how aroma connects a person's memories. Within the tavern environment, Kuromi Serika would inevitably carry a mixed scent of wood and alcohol. Adding this phrase to the caption was intended to push the images beyond the visual realm, attempting to evoke olfactory imagination. In terms of lighting and shadow, side-rim lighting beautifully outlined the edges of her hair, making the blue of her twintails pop vibrantly against the dark background. Throughout the session, the photographer captured many dynamic moments, and I tried my best to imbue my gaze with narrative depth—whether it was an examining stare straight into the camera or contemplative low-cast glances while holding the tray, hoping to project that aloof exterior hiding a rich inner world. This Tavern photoshoot reached an exceptionally high completion standard, and I truly hope to convey this unique atmosphere to everyone.
