Today, I headed to the park carrying the Nikon Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena lens. With sunlight filtering through the golden foliage, the lighting conditions were utterly pristine. I wore a white beret, a red knit cardigan over a white collared shirt, and a layered white ruffled mini skirt below. The highlight of the ensemble was pairing ribbon-accented white over-the-knee socks with black platform Mary Janes; the contrasting palette of red, white, and black popped brilliantly against the autumnal backdrop.
I often joke about being a hallucination before dying from a third-party battery explosion, but for this outdoor shoot, I truly brought along this dream lens. The 135mm focal length paired with the bright f/1.8 aperture produces breathtaking bokeh outdoors, and holding the lens box as a prop for photography behind-the-scenes snaps felt wonderfully authentic. We scouted a walkway carpeted with fallen leaves, where the photographer in the distance—wearing a black-and-white checkered jacket—knelt directly on the stone pavement to dial in his angles, with a softbox and light stand set up nearby. To capture the natural sunlight and crisp rim details along the White stockings, he continuously calibrated camera heights, showing tremendous dedication by shooting from his knees.
This look leans toward a relaxed, Daily outfit academy aesthetic. Although it lacks intricate fantasy props, the red sweater radiated immense warmth against the yellow ginkgo trees. Sunlight filtering through the branches hit the White stockings, creating delightfully smooth transitions between highlights and shadows. In the deep background, another model dressed in a long white overcoat stood atop an equipment case to complement the framing, reflecting great team synergy.
Outdoor photography genuinely tests one's command over natural daylight—wait just a bit too long, and the light dims rapidly. This session made me appreciate how premium photography equipment can bring an entirely elevated tactile quality. From composition and light shaping to harmonizing garment hues with the environment, every nuance demands careful consideration. While carrying heavy gear around all day was exhausting, seeing the refined textures captured through the lens made every bit of effort worthwhile. Today's shoot wrapped smoothly, and I hope everyone can enjoy this process of capturing beauty under natural light.
