[Dorothy cosplay] Goddess of Victory: Nikke Convention Photos in White Dress and White Stockings

For this shoot, I chose a dress primarily in white with subtle pink gradient accents. The outfit features an abundance of intricate details: a high-neck lace collar, a deep V-shaped sheer mesh inset across the chest flanked by pink floral embellishments and a delicate silver chain drape. The sleeves are flared ruffle short sleeves, and the waistline features cutout details on both sides. The skirt has an asymmetrical high-low hemline layered with white lace and a pink satin gradient. To complete the look, I wore a long pink wig styled with two neat odango buns on top, accented by fine silver chains and pink flower hairpins. For makeup, the focus was on the eyes—I paired violet-pink contact lenses with soft pink blush and lipstick. My nails were styled with a long manicure adorned with rhinestones and pearls.

The shooting took place at a large indoor convention center during an anime expo. Since the background was fairly busy, the photographer and I scouted a relatively clean corner and used a wide aperture to blur out the background clutter. I sat on a tall black stool with my legs crossed. This posture not only highlighted the layered volume of the skirt but also allowed the white over-the-knee stockings and metallic silver platform sandals to be fully framed. The white lace parasol was a crucial prop, adorned with intricate lace trim, flowers, pearls, and pink ribbons. The first shot was a standing pose holding the umbrella, while the subsequent ones had me seated with the open parasol framing the background. When holding the open umbrella, I had to be mindful of my shoulder and arm angles to avoid casting shadows or obscuring my face.

The venue lighting was rather harsh, so the photographer guided me to adjust my facial angle toward the natural light filtering through the windows, which gave my skin a much softer texture. To showcase the depth of the skirt layers, adjusting the seating posture was essential: keeping the legs slightly tensed and pointing the insteps created a visually elongated, graceful line on camera. The silver multi-buckle sandals had a decent heel, requiring steady balance while moving in sync with the parasol.

With heavy convention foot traffic, shooting in this elaborate outfit took considerable effort. Because the wig was quite long, it tangled easily while walking and needed constant combing. Given all the lace and fine tulle, I also had to sit down carefully to avoid snags. The entire shoot lasted about an hour, mostly spent refining details and hunting for clean angles. Since these were on-site event photos taken straight on the show floor without room for heavy retouching, initial costume prep and clever lighting usage were paramount. I'm very pleased with how the final shots turned out—they captured the exact mood I wanted while highlighting every fine detail of the costume and accessories.
