Here are the convention photos from the CICF Expo 2023. This shoot was primarily completed using the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 lens paired with the Fujifilm X-T3 body. The lighting inside the convention hall was cluttered, but the large aperture of this focal length helped tremendously with bokeh and background separation, effortlessly separating the subject from the background while preserving sharp details on the skirt's lace and cat ears.
Walking around the hall in this Cat Rem cosplay outfit was actually quite physically demanding. The tiered layers of the skirt, combined with the white over-the-knee White stockings, colorful ankle ribbons, and platform shoes, created a visual lightness, but put a considerable burden on the knees and ankles. To highlight the leg lines, I chose wide skirt-lifting motions or a single-leg standing pose punching the air. While maintaining balance during these poses, we also had to quickly capture the lighting angles and facial expressions. The overhead light at the venue was a bit harsh, so we often needed to adjust our standing positions to avoid unflattering facial shadows.
Securing the wig and cat ears was also hard work; to maintain the 3D structure of the headpiece, many bobby pins were used. The light blue short hair paired with pink X-shaped clips on the forehead and long side braids, combined with the pink eyeshadow and lip makeup, visually created a cool yet lively gap-moe contrast in this Anime cosplay. The dominant black-and-white color scheme of the costume paired with White stockings made it very easy to get great shots under the high-contrast lighting of the convention. Exquisite lace was sewn across the chest and apron trims, and the off-the-shoulder sleeve design also framed the arm lines beautifully, which was why I chose this styling.
The venue was crowded, and the photographer was constantly scouting for spots to dodge foot traffic. The autofocus performance of the X-T3 paired with the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 was exceptionally reliable during snapshot shooting, stably capturing vivid moments amidst rapidly changing poses. The White stockings exhibited a soft, delicate texture in front of the lens, and paired with the skirt-lifting motions, made the legs look even more slender. The overall color palette took on a clear, translucent blue-and-white tone, leaving ample room for post-processing adjustments. Thanks to Viltrox and on-site staff for their support; this photo set captured a wonderful record perfectly true to the character's temperament in a convention setting.
