Today I captured this summer-infused set at an indoor swimming pool. To match the poolside atmosphere, I intentionally chose a classic navy one-piece School swimsuit—the iconic Japanese school swimwear style—paired with White stockings. This contrast between deep and light tones yields a remarkably clean visual against the clear pool water. To add a playful touch, I topped the look with a Maid style lace headband accented with white pom-poms, finished with black round-framed glasses to anchor a sweet, casual 2D vibe. Shooting in a heated indoor pool meant cold wasn't an issue, but high humidity tested makeup longevity; luckily, we managed shooting time efficiently.

The shoot was physically demanding beyond expectations. Sitting along the pool's edge, water glare required constant micro-adjustments to my posture and angle to ensure even facial illumination. The photographer utilized ample natural daylight pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows to beautifully render skin translucency, while soft background blur kept the visual focus locked on the subject and the pool edge. Embracing a clear, flower-shaped inflatable ring in the water posed a real balancing challenge against buoyancy and drag while trying to maintain a relaxed expression. The White stockings took on a uniquely sleek, wet cling once submerged, though drying off immediately after getting out was essential to avoid catching a chill.

The second and third frames were shot standing in the pool with the water level reaching mid-calf. The water temperature was pleasant, but slipping on the tiled floor required vigilance. While holding the swim ring, relaxing finger placements and shoulder contours was crucial to avoid looking stiff in the water. I especially love the shot sitting along the coping with legs crossed—it highlights the garment rims and stocking textures while elongating leg lines, and flashing a peace sign preserved natural sweetness.

For the color grading, I requested a subtle cool undertone to emphasize the mist and refreshing mood. Overall, this genre of shoot demands balancing costume aesthetics with natural ease in the water. While I don't shoot Sweet girl cosplay too often, the resulting vibe is delightfully refreshing. I hope this brings a touch of poolside coolness and joy to everyone during the hot weather! Shooting around water is an art form—from light refraction to spatial distance from the water, every detail dictates quality. This session offered great experience for water-based sets, and splashing around made for wonderful memories.
