[Phoebe Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Phoebe: Gentle Moments in stained glass light and shadow

To shoot Phoebe from Wuthering Waves this time, I spent an entire week on wardrobe preparations. The whole costume is based on white, accented with black-and-gold stripes and blue ornaments. The high collar is tailored from crisp black fabric, adorned with golden cross motifs and a blue gemstone brooch. The thick blue braided cord and tassel across the chest easily tangle or warp during shooting, so I clamped them in place beforehand to secure their shape. The delicate black lace cut-outs along the cuffs and skirt hem, along with the golden stitching and blue bows on the white boots, required readjustment after every pose change to guarantee flawless symmetry on camera.

For the wig, I selected long blonde curly hair with blunt bangs; the curls at the ends needed daily restyling, requiring ample styling products to maintain their volume. To stay true to the character's design, I wore blue contact lenses and swept fairly heavy pink blush across my cheeks and nose bridge to add a touch of visual vitality. For headwear, the white wide-brimmed hat was the crowning touch—its black-and-gold striped ribbon and side-mounted blue cross hairpin stood out vividly in front of the lens.

The shooting location was an indoor studio featuring stained glass windows. Natural light streamed through the colored panes, casting vibrant patterns across the floor. To complement this soft stained glass light and shadow, I chose a white plush rug and matching cushions as the backdrop, keeping the overall palette clean and high-key. It's worth noting that White stockings easily overexpose and lose their subtle weave under strong or complex illumination. During the test lighting phase, I asked the photographer to lower the exposure compensation and utilize side rim lighting to carve out the leg contours, which preserved the tactile texture of the stockings while making the leg lines look sleeker. Paired with white knee-high boots, I experimented with different seated poses. For instance, in shots one and four, I chose a cross-legged and semi-kneeling posture, letting the skirt drape naturally while relying on the pairing of White stockings and high-heeled boots to elongate visual proportions. For the second shot, I took a side-sitting stance with one hand steadying the brim of my hat and the other supporting me against the floor to create soft, fluid body curves. The long staff prop also served as a great compositional anchor; I rested it beside me as a visual leading line or held it casually, minding wrist tension so it never looked stiff.

Throughout the session, poses were adjusted frequently. Although the plush rug was soft, its support was limited, and kneeling for long stretches proved quite tough on the knees. With every pose change, I carefully checked the fabric folds, lace positioning, and leg lines to ensure peak presentation. To capture the most organic illumination, we waited until late afternoon when the sunlight was at its lowest angle—that was when colors through the stained glass were richest, casting gorgeous chromatic reflections across the white attire. While the process was physically demanding, seeing the captured frames fulfill my expectations from wardrobe details to ambient mood made every moment worthwhile.
