Little cake posing alongside the giant cake! To celebrate my birthday month with a touch of ceremony, I specially planned a dreamy, fairy-tale photo set. Rather than cosplaying a specific anime or gaming character, this Original cosplay was purely driven by my love for sweet, whimsical vibes.
The dress was crafted with Custom haute couture by Ruxin. The moment it arrived, I was completely captivated by its craftsmanship: the boned bodice features crisp, structured tailoring that naturally flares the silhouette without needing heavy petticoats, while the cascading, tiered ruffles spread out like freshly piped cream rosettes—airy, dimensional, and richly textured. The lace trims are supple and gentle against the skin, wrapping me up like a cloud. Although styled as casual Lolita fashion, I approached the aesthetic and shoot as an immersive cosplay-inspired creation, since its opulence rivals the most elaborate costumes out there.
The set was hosted at Big Orange Mansion Photography Studio, and the decor completely satisfied my inner romantic. Billowing white sheer drapes, colorful balloons, scattered floral bouquets, and an oversized cream cake prop taller than me filled the room. The backdrop showcased high-saturation macaron gradients shifting gracefully from citrus orange and warm yellow to sky blue and lavender. Balancing light in such a chromatic environment is tricky; poor illumination can easily make the scene look cluttered and turn colors muddy gray. Fortunately, photographer and colorist @Weiyu📷 delivered pinpoint lighting control, diffusing soft keys generously to maintain translucent clarity and preserve the ethereal flow of the tulle dress.
The shooting session was an absolute joy. To accentuate the kinetic bounce of the skirt, I twirled, leaped lightly, and tossed confetti streamers with arms raised high. As the sheer layers fluttered with each movement, the dress genuinely gave off the illusion of a glowing, radiant confection. To layer in playful storytelling, we incorporated a giant red strawberry prop—cradling it or reaching out to touch it added charming, candid fun. The floral arrangements on set were equally exquisite; despite the vibrant colors, they were placed in balanced tiers that framed me beautifully at the center rather than competing for focus.
As a modest creator who just crossed a thousand followers, this shoot also serves as a sweet personal milestone. I have always gravitated toward this bright, clean Lolita photography style—free of complex narratives, where simply standing beside that giant cake crystallizes the pure joy of a birthday. Slipping into attire you love and sharing your most organic self before the lens is arguably the greatest magic of photography. Every shutter click freezes a fleeting, beautiful present. Every garment possesses its own soul, and this Custom haute couture creation made me feel endlessly enchanted. With time suspended in these pastel-woven frames, nothing more was needed.
