The conceptual core of today's shoot was 'an island getaway without the sea.' Driven by longing for the ocean shore, we sculpted a coastal daydream inside the studio using imported sand and sculptural lighting.
Let's begin with the styling architecture. The ensemble embraces a watercolor wash of pale azure and ivory tie-dye: a cropped camisole bodice ruffled along the neckline with frontal ties, paired with a matching high-waisted tiered maxi skirt. To enrich textural depth, I layered an oversized cream openwork crochet knit shawl with flared bell sleeves and trailing woven tassels, lending an airy Bohemian style rhythm to every movement. Accessories were layered with intention: stacked pearl and star-cross chokers graced the collarbones, while a gilded shell-and-pearl belly chain chimed crisply with every step. Crowning the look was an ivory scalloped wide-brim straw hat pinned with a baby-blue silk blossom on the right brim, harmonizing with the watercolor palette.
For hair and beauty, long ash-blonde straight locks were cut with blunt bangs to frame the face, incorporating a relaxed side braid finished with white floral pins. The makeup focused on sun-kissed flush and high-shine glazed lips, framed by luminous pale lenses and custom gem-encrusted press-on nails.
The set was minimalist: a sand-strewn studio floor backed by deep black seamless paper. The photographer positioned a warm directional rim light from the rear flank to simulate golden hour twilight. As beams filtered through the weave of the straw hat and open-knit poncho, dappled specular patterns traced across the skin. Imagining ocean gales, I clutched the hat brim with both hands or knelt softly across the sand as skirts fanned out naturally.
