This dress for Patchouli Knowledge took quite some time to prepare, and the serenity of the sleeping library was beautifully restored under the set design by photographer @WuyuRuoye. Dark brown wooden bookshelves, a reddish-brown retro genuine leather sofa, and a vintage brass astrolabe in the background shrouded the entire shooting space in a lazy, mysterious atmosphere of vintage photography. The lighting setup was very meticulous; warm yellow sidelight cast upon the leather sofa and my figure formed a natural contrast of light and shadow, delivering a classical oil painting texture.
Special thanks this time to tailor @-ZhuzhongYuzi-, as the costume details were handled exceedingly well. The golden star embroidery on the sheer fabric sparkled softly under the flash, while the layered lace and ruffles along the skirt hem naturally fanned out when seated. The upper body tailoring fit snugly, with a dominant purple tone interwoven with champagne gold trimming—possessing the splendor of Lolita photography style while retaining the magician's elegance. For the wig, a light purple style was chosen, adorned with braids and ribbon bows on both sides to give the head silhouette a fuller look. Paired with vintage round-frame glasses featuring a metallic chain, a scholarly aura emerged instantly.
Among the photos taken during this shoot, I personally prefer using the shot on the sofa with my legs crossed as the cover. That angle perfectly displayed the white thigh-highs outfit and leg lines peeking out from beneath the skirt hem. Paired with plush slippers on my feet, it fully captured the relaxed, casual demeanor inside the sleeping library. The decorative art book in hand was also a custom prop; the purple-pink dried flowers stayed consistent with the outfit's overall color palette, accentuating the frame nicely when held. The shooting process was actually quite a physical test. The weight of the skirt and sheer layers was considerable, requiring constant attention to seating posture and skirt placement to prevent it from crumpling into a mess.
In terms of prop coordination, the photographer also paid attention to the details of books scattered casually across the floor, which, paired with my movements, made the storytelling in the visuals feel even more complete. Wearing such intricate, gorgeous dresses in reality indeed takes time to get used to, but looking back at the full set of photos, the fusion with the character turned out quite well. Being able to present the charm of the Seven-Colored Magician from Touhou Project through these few moments was a thoroughly enjoyable shooting experience.
